Machu Picchu is an ancient Inca citadel set high in the Andes Mountains in Peru. It is considered the most significant archaeological site left by the Inca Empire. Very little is known about Machu Picchu as it was abandoned prior to the Spanish conquest of the Inca Empire in the 16th century.
