1. AFGHANISTAN

2. DEMOGRAPHICS
• Population: 37.2 million
• Religion: 99.7% Islam, 0.3%
Christian and others including
Sikh, Buhda
• The percentages are only an estimate as
there is no recorded information on the
percentage of actual religions in the
country.This is due to the high incidence
of persecution in this country.

3. GOVERNMENT
• Leader: President Ashraf Ghani
Ahmadzai
• Government Type: Presidential Islamic
Republic
• Legal System: Mixed legal system of
civil, customary and Islamic law

4. PERSECUTION
• 2nd on the World Watch list under
severe persecution. North Korea is
1st.
• If it is found that someone is even
searching about Christianity in
Afghanistan, online or elsewhere,
immediate action will be taken to re-
indoctrinate them until they comply.
This includes torture until they
change or death.

5. PERSECUTION
• Information regarding Christians is
very limited and not recorded.This is
done to protect the Christians living
in Afghanistan. Due to such severe
persecution in this country.
• The church remains completely
underground today

6. PERSECUTION/FAMILY LIFE
• It is impossible to live as a Christian
there. Even the suspicion of being a
Christian will cost you your life
• Every baby is registered in the state as
Muslim
• Parents are fearful of teaching their
children Christianity for fear that they
speak out as children so fearlessly do
• Christians will not get jobs in
Afghanistan, unless they are known to be
Afghan Muslims

7. PLEASE PRAY
• Pray that these Christians may not feel
alone, but that they may feel the love and
protection of their Heavenly Father, as well
as feel the support of brothers and sisters in
other countries lifting them up before Jesus
Christ in prayer
• Pray that the Lord would “insulate these
minority Christians from the spiritual
oppression surrounding them”.

8. PLEASE PRAY
• Pray for families as they try to understand
the best ways to raise their children to love
the Lord in the midst of severe persecution
• Pray for the Lords protection and provision
for believers, including jobs, food, education
etc.
• Pray for those who are truly searching, that
they may find the Lord in spite of the
restrictions put on being able to find
anything about Jesus in Afghanistan

9. PLEASE PRAY
• Pray for the salvation of the leader President
Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai
• Pray for those doing the torture and killing,
that the Lord would soften their hearts, that
the words spoken by the Christians will
resonate and seeds of faith may be planted
in their hearts
• Pray for the underground Church to grow
strong and brave in these dark times
