New housing construction in Wales declined in 2017-18, with 6,037 new dwellings started (a 12% decrease from the previous year) and 6,663 dwellings completed (a 2% decrease). The majority (75%) of new dwellings completed were houses and bungalows, while 23% of new homes had 4 or more bedrooms. Most new construction (82%) occurred in the private sector.
