In this talk, I delivered a crash course in Object-Oriented UX, helping to simplify our process and our products We learned to ask and answer the following foundational questions:
What are the objects in our users’ world?
What’s the structure of these objects?
How do they connect?
How do they relate to the user?
By baking these answers into the bones of our information architecture, we’ll gain glorious clarity on what we are actually designing. We will also be better equipped to avoid the four biggest UX fails: masked objects, shape-shifting objects, broken objects, and isolated objects.
(PS - Marie Kondo lawyers, please do come after me for leveraging her image and concepts! I'm a fan! I love Marie! I store everything vertically!)

OBJECT-ORIENTED UX
The practice of aligning your software to your user’s real-world mental model
of concrete,defined objects.
The path to elegant,intuitive,decluttered,simplicity.
25. Simplify by tidying up your modules, components, and design elements.
BUT HOW?
26. Simplify by tidying up your modules, components, and design elements.
Root all these bits in REAL-WORLD OBJECTS.
BUT HOW?
27. @sophiavux
WHAT ARE THE OBJECTS IN THE USER’S MENTAL MODEL?
WHAT IS THEIR STRUCTURE? THEIR COMPOSITION?
WHAT ARE THEIR RELATIONSHIPS TO EACH OTHER?
WHAT ARE THEIR RELATIONSHIPS TO THE USER?
We,the OOUXers, answer these questions before designing a single screen:
