5. Soil analysis in Republic of Moldova
The Republic of Moldova has five stationary routine
laboratories in which soil investigations are carried out. Testing
laboratory “Quality of soil, plants and fertilizers” are the only one
accredited laboratory for fertilizer testing in the country. We are
an optional laboratory relatively recently created on July 28,
2015 in order to meet the expectations of the economic agents,
individuals and the state supervisory and control bodies regarding
the carrying out the laboratory analyses to confirm the soil,
plants, surface waters and organic waste quality.
In its work the laboratory uses standardized
methods for soil, plants, fertilizers and irrigation
waters analysis.
6. Proficiency testing (PT)
Till now we have done bilateral interlaboratory
tests with the National Research and
Development Institute for Soil Science,
Agrochemistry and Environment – ICPA
Bucharest. But the next steep of our strategic
development direction and one of the main
objective for the next 1-2 years for our
laboratory is to join to a proficiency testing (PT)
program and increase our results credibility at
the international level.
7. Accreditation
The Testing Laboratory “Soil, Plants, and Fertilizers
Quality” is accredited by National Accreditation Centre of
Republic of Moldova since 2016.

8. Strength/weakness
What do you think your lab is strong at?
Good quality of carrying out laboratory investigations
The big variety of the determined parameters. At the current stage new
methods are implemented to determine the quality of soil, plants,
irrigation water, mineral and organic fertilizers. (Total 30 parameters: the
granulometric and micro-aggregate composition of the soil; soils carbon
content in and its relation to humus content; pH; dry residue; total
nitrogen, nitric nitrogen, ammoniacal nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, ,
sodium, calcium, magnesium, iron, sulfur, manganese, zinc, copper,
molybdenum, boron, chromium, cadmium, lead, carbonates,
bicarbonates, chlorides, cobalt and nickel content; radiological specific
activity, the strontium-90, cesium-137, the irradiation exposure rate
range)
9. Strength/weakness
What do you think it could be improved?
- developing and implementing new analytical methods, more
efficient than those which is used today
- to join to a proficiency testing (PT) program
- we would like to attract and co-interest more young employees
- extending the field of accreditation in accordance with the current
requirements and problems of agriculture in the country
- Purchase the more efficient and performant laboratory equipment.
10. What are your expectations out of this meeting and
GLOSOLAN?
From the Meeting:
To establish contacts and communication with other
laboratories for the future exchanging of experience.
From Glosolan:
To provide the new information regarding analytical
chemistry use in soil protection and soil evaluation field.
