1. Topic of Literature Review: Solar Energy: Harnessing the Power of the Sun<br />Date of Reflection: 10th May 2011 <br />Feelings and Thoughts: <br />Soh Zheng Yang – After much research and group discussion on the future use of solar energy, I have learnt that utilizing solar energy is indeed a beneficial way to generate electrical currents. As Solar Energy is a natural resources, it will be renewable and at the same time, being converted into electrical currents at low cost. Also, some tropical countries can also make use of the solar energy available and to come out with ways like installing a solar panel on their rooftop so as to absorb sunlight and hence, producing electrical currents for their purposes. Moreover, through this project work, I have learnt that even though Solar Energy is useful and beneficial, it requires the right location and a huge area so as to allow solar energy collector to be set up. Also, researchers have been coming out with interesting ways to produce electrical currents like making use of both the wind and solar energy. Last but not least, through the group discussion, we are able to view things from other people’s perspective and have a better understanding and concept on this topic. I hoped that the researchers can come out with other ways to make use of the sunlight and reports have shown that they are progressing as a recent report indicated that the researchers are trying to find out how a hornet utilizes the solar energy and produces electrical currents. The researchers are trying to duplicate the hornet’s body structure so as to harvest solar energy for electricity production. They are also refining the model and seek better ways to emulate the hornet for power solutions. Through this project, I have learnt some values and also information on harnessing the solar energy. <br /> <br />
