DNA is a double-stranded molecule that stores genetic information. It consists of two strands coiled around each other that are connected through base pairing between complementary nucleotide bases - adenine (A) pairs with thymine (T), and cytosine (C) pairs with guanine (G). The two strands run in opposite directions from each other, with the sugar-phosphate backbones on the outside and the bases on the inside, facing each other.
