Information Quarterly:
Did You Know?
"As reported in Job-Seeking in U.S. Public
Libraries in 2009, 'less than 44% of the top 100
U.S. retailers accept instore paper applications.'
Municipal, state, and federal agencies are
increasingly putting their resources online,
including unemployment benefit applications [&
more] ... In addition ... the report finds social
service agencies may encourage clients to make
appointments and apply for state jobs online."

Journal article:

"Forty percent (30 million people) of public access
technology users used library computers and
Internet access for employment or career purposes.
Among these users, 76 percent used library
computers to search for jobs, 46 percent worked on
their resumes, and 23 percent received training
related to their jobs or professions. An estimated
3.7 million people were actually hired for positions
for which they applied using library computers or
wireless networks." (Becker et al., 2011)
