Udaipur Disparities
Basic population and demography:
As per 2011 census Udaipur has 3068420 population. In case of basic population and
demography indicators Udaipur stands at rank 30th out of 33 districts of Rajasthan. As per census
2011 about half of the population i.e. 49.7 % of total population is ST in Udaipur. South east part
of the Udaipur has major numbers of ST’s in which block Kotra, Jhadol, Kherwara stands at first
3 ranks.
Udaipur is the distinct with “Moderate Development”. In Agriculture and Live stock sector and
Industrial sector Udaipur stands at rank 4th in the state Rajasthan but Udaipur stands at 7th rank at
power sector. The implication of economic growth for income inequality depends on the nature
and drivers of economic growth. As Girwa is the highly populated and urban centre of the
district Udaipur hence has the highest literacy rate hence, skill intensive service sector such as
banking, business and insurances are expected to generate employment only for little highly
educated urban centric labour. Where as in other block agriculture and low skilled labour
intensive manufacturing sector generates more employment for unskilled labour, growth driven
by these sectors is expected to be more equitable. In addition population of these blocks are not
interested in other activities more than agriculture and unskilled labour jobs.
As rural urban growth of each block is different in Udaipur, hence the inequalities can be seen in
the blocks of the district. Girwa is developing at urban level due to more economy growth rate at
the bloc hence the living standard of the girwa is far better than other blocks . As per census
2011 the Kotra, Jhadol and Lasadiya don’t have urban population at all hence the living standard
is too low in these area of district. Where as in many blocks the rural population are not aware
off importance of the education hence they do not go to the schools and education centers .Even
the student teacher ration do also lacks in some of the blocks.
2. Conclusion:
As per above information many disparities lies between different blocks in the district. Girwa is
the more developed block in the district as compared with the rest of the blocks.
