6. 1. Summary Of Changes
Since the last deliverables in December 2008 and the following workshop in
Washington D.C. in January 2009 the complete set of Construction
Documents of Team Germany has been revised.
There has been an intensive design and optimization process within the last
months bearing several new ideas and possibilities on different layers. We
spent a long time developing a façade with PV-application. Manufacturers and
sponsors guided and supported our research and design process for months
before admitting that this idea of a smooth and lightweight façade is
technically not yet producible.
The consequence of this development and the most apparent change since
December is that our façade had to become a new design. It is now a new
interpretation of our ideas for a PV-activated façade which should be easily
conceivable for other projects and adaptable for energetic renovations of
building stock. (See also Architecture and Engineering Design Narratives)
Other particular changes since December insist on our ceiling system that is
now a crucial component of our energy concept. The window’s positions have
changed due to further analysis and light-studies – attended by further
analysis concerning effective sun control devices.
Relating to the Rules Compliance Checklist the following changes have been
made:
4-5 noise reduction for equipment
5-2 effect of reconfigurable louvers integral to the façade’s structure
necessary revision of solar envelope
6-4 new public tour route due to crossing points in December’s proposal
8-3 cooling system integral to void ceiling
8-6 changed from 3-phase system to required 1-phase system for
Photovoltaic connection
