The VisiOn project’s focus is on delivering the novel VisiOn Privacy Platform (VPP), which supports user-centric Visual Privacy Management and addresses privacy challenges faced by both citizens and Public Administrations (Pas). In particular, the VPP will support the visualisation of Privacy Level Agreements, defining privacy needs from users’ perspective and the privacy threat and trust analysis for online services provided by the PAs. It started in May 2015 under the EU programme Horizon 2020 and it will work on the validation of the VPP through three pilots runned by four PAs.

3. The VisiOn project’s focus is on delivering the novel VisiOn Privacy Platform
(VPP), which supports user-centric Visual Privacy Management and addresses
privacy challenges faced by both citizens and Public Administrations (Pas). In
particular, the VPP will support the visualisation of Privacy Level Agreements,
defining privacy needs from users’ perspective and the privacy threat and trust
analysis for online services provided by the PAs. Three different pilot scenarios,
to be implemented in four different Pas (among which an Italian and a Spanish
hospital) are foreseen and they aim to show both PA-users and PA-PA enhanced
interaction when using VPP.
Description of the solution
4. VisiOn is focused on PAs. It has been widely accepted that citizens’ trust
towards PAs is actually breached and has to be re-established or reinforced. In
order for that to be feasible, PAs should be accountable for the way they
manage personal data while they are aiming at improving the effectiveness and
efficiency of their online services in terms of speed and resource deployment.
VisiOn will provide a privacy platform that will enable, on one hand, PAs to
manage private data in an accountable and transparent way, and on the other
hand it will provide citizens with the ability to control their privacy when they
must share their personal data with PAs.
