2. Dasharatha was the King of Ayodhya
and had three wives and four
sons, Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata and
Shatrughana.
3. Rama was the eldest and was the
son of kaushalya. Bharata was the
second son and the son of his
favourite wife Queen Kaikeyi. The
other two were twins Lakshmana
and Shatrughna from the third
wife Sumitra. Rama and Bharat are
blue indicating they were dark
skinned.
4. King Janak came to know what
was happening
between Rama and Sita and
therefore announced that the
brave heart who breaks the
dhanush of Shiva will marry his
daughter.
5. Rama broke that
dhanush of shiva. And
got married to sita. Raja
Dasharatha declared
Ram Chandra to be his
heir-apparent as he was
the eldest as well as the
ablest of all his sons.
6. Bharata's mother Kaikeyi, who
resents Rama being the crown
prince. She calls up a debt that
Dasharatha owes her and asks for
Rama to be exiled for fourteen
years and her son Bharata be
made crown prince instead.
7. As a loyal and faithful son, Ram
Chandra obeyed the order of his
father and went over to jungles
along with his wife, Sita and
brother, Lakshman.
8. Bharata actually came to take
Rama back. But
since Rama denied
then, Bharataasked Rama for
his slippers because he always
considered Rama as his role
model. Taking Rama's slippers on
9. When Sita sees a golder deer wandering
around the forest, she insists Ram to
catch it. Ram chases it into the forest.
Meanwhile, Lakshamana hears scream of
Ram, which was actually trap by Marich,
who was disguised as golden deer. Sita
insists Lakshamana to go and watch his
brother. Lakshamana refuses at first, but
then agrees on one condition. He draws a
line around the cottage and requests Sita
not to cross that line in any situation.
10. Once Lakshmana leaves in search of
Rama, the Rakshasa king Ravana comes
in the form of a mendicant and asks Sita
for alms. Not expecting a trick, she
unsuspectingly crosses the Lakshmana
Rekhato provide alms to him and
Ravana kidnaps her in his Pushpaka
Vimana.
11. Rama and Lakshmana travel far and wide
searching for Sita but to no avail. Finally,
they come upon a band of vanaras or
monkey-men who pledge to help him.
One of the might warriors of the
vanaras, Hanuman, becomes Rama's
staunch devotee. The vanaras seek out
traces of Sita and find she has been
taken to Lanka.
12. Hanuman flies to Lanka and confirms she
is imprisoned there. He contacts Sita and
informs her of Rama's whereabouts,
promising that they will be back to rescue
her. Before returning to the mainland,
Hanuman sets fire to the whole city of
Lanka.
13. Hanuman tried his best to convince Sita that he
was Rama's friend and at last when she saw the
signet-ring, she got convinced, and she was glad
and sorry at once. Glad to know that Rama was
alive and well, and sorry for his grief. Rama,
Lakshmana and the vanar army build a causeway
from the tip of India to Lanka. They travel to
Lanka, where an epic battle follows between the
armies.
Hanuman got dejected after not finding Sita anywhere,
was very disappointed, then hesaw a lady Hanuman
believed that she was Sita, for she was fair and spotless,
like a moon overcast by clouds, and she wore the jewels
as described by Rama.
14. Rama, Lakshmana and the vanar army
build a causeway from the tip of India to
Lanka. They travel to Lanka, where an
epic battle follows between the armies.
Ravana is finally killed by Rama, and Sita
is freed. They return to Ayodhya, where
Bharata returns the crown to Rama.
