2. What is the
Kirkpratick
Evaluation Model?
Evaluation Model developed by Donald
Kirkpatrick
Used to analyze the effectiveness/results of
a training
Assesses formal and informal training
methods
Evaluation model made up of 4 levels of
evaluation
• Level 1: Reaction
• Level 2: Learning
• Level 3: Impact
• Level 4: Results
6. Level 1: Reactions
• Analyzes learners' initial reaction to training
• Pose the following questions to evaluate
reactions:
• Did participants enjoy the training?
• Was it relevant to their job?
• Questions about attitude towards training
could help gauge if learning took place- if
negative reaction, then little learning took
place
10. Summary
• Kirkpatrick Model is a training evaluation
process comprised of 4 levels
• Developed by Donald Kirkpatrick in 1959,
yet many updates have been made over the
years
• Technology influences the changes to the
Kirkpatrick model
• Each level of the model is more laborious
than the preceding evaluation level
• Requires analysis and gathering of
quantitative and qualitative data to make
improvements to training material
• Final evaluation of results helps determine if
training was effective
