INDIA WILL NEED 20 LAKH BIOTECH
MANPOWER UP TO YEAR 2020
CSIR & GATE EXAM SPECIAL
16 REASONS WHY BIOTECNIKA NEW SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE
“BIOTECH HAS NO
SCOPE, IT’S A WASTE”
How many times have you heard
this phrase in your college, from
colleagues or from seniors ? Goto
IT Sector Instead, BT Sector has
no Jobs, There is No Scope Bla
Bla…..
100,000+ times !! Or even more ?
And if every one is saying so, then
why so many Billionaires are in-
vesting in this field ? What is it so
exciting about it that makes these
rich souls invest millions.
By Shekhar Suman
WHY BILLIONAIRES INVEST IN BIOTECH
If Biotech has no scope, then why
Billionaires are investing ?
This is just a small list, there are many more
funding & investments happening, then why
we all are saying that there is no scope ?
There seems to be some kind of gap in be-
tween what we understand about BT industry
and Academia.
BT Sector has no Scope in India ?
You can easily summarize that there is no
scope in India but Abroad its exists. Lets un-
derstand this misconception.
Accenture, Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro, Reli-
ance – Infact all major IT /Non IT companies
also are investing in Life Sciences and have a
fully functional Life Sciences Arm. Infact the
BioPharma Sector is slated to become multi
trillion US Dollars ( $ ) sector.
Demand & Supply Gap
While all the above companies are investing
heavily in Bio Sciences, there exists a Skill
Set gap among the Graduates / Post Gradu-
ates coming out of college and the needs of
industry.
Infact in the early 2000’s every Tom Dick
and harry college started a Bio Sciences
course and took admissions in bulk, It took
a decade for them to realize that to succeed
in BioSciences department their students did
not just needed degree but also specific skill
sets, and they had to eventually shutdown.
In a recent Interview to BioTecNika TV,
Chief Scientific Officer of Anthem Bio-
Sciences states that they prefer M.Sc chem-
istry over Biotech. Why so ? The reason is
lack of skill sets as well understanding of the
needs of the industry.
Which Skill Set ?
To be absorbed in the industry you need
specific skill set such as QA / QC ( Quality
Control & Quality Analyst ) , Pharmacovigi-
lance, IPR, Hands on Experience on various
instruments & Bioinfo Softwares , Medical
Coding and many more. Its always advised
to add skills and target accordingly. A Ph.D
Degree from a CSIR Lab or a MS from IIT’s
adds additional weight-age on your resume.

So will there be scope after attaining these
skill sets ?
Indian Biotech Industry slated to be 100
Billion Dollars by 2025 and certainly specific
skill sets are going to help you get absorbed at
a high salary package. Additionally Govern-
ment jobs in this sector has been booming off
late and this means Good news for those who
are looking for that Stable Sarkari Naukri in
Biotech Sector. What Say ?
Why Billionaires are investing ?
Billionaires have analysed that this is going
to be the biggest business of future.

ENCE WILL UNDERGO A RADICAL

How a Fresher can become an Experienced Research Scientist

A transition of charcoal to Diamond can
only happen if its given stressful conditions
which it handles exceptionally well. Same
way your Transition from a Fresher to an
Experienced Research Scientist can happen
when its exposed to Jobs. But No company
wants to rely on a fresher for advanced level
research positions. If they hire also, they give
a starting salary which way lesser than the
money required for survival.
The Starting Mantra: Go for Exams like
CSIR NET Exam, GATE, DBT JRF, ICMR
JRF, ARS NET and orient your career in the
right direction. Get stipend from CSIR NET
and Complete your Ph.D and then get into ad-
vanced positions.
Most of you complain about not being hired
by companies as a Fresher, Many a times,
you reach the Final Interview stage and then
get rejected due to one or the other reason. As
Famously said by Dr Kiran Majumdar Shaw
“Biotech Sector is a Knowledge Driven &
Knowledge Intensive sector”
Thus the answer to your Question is Tran-
sition – From a Fresher to a Experienced
Researcher & that cannot happen without ex-
posing yourself to this EXAM.

How to crack CSIR NET Life Sciences Exam
in first attempt?
CSIR NET Syllabus +
Weightage of Important
Topics
How to crack CSIR NET Life Sciences
Exam in first attempt?
First of all, we would like to appreciate the
way aspirants are aiming high, wishing to
clear CSIR NET, one of the hardest Life sci-
ence examinations, in the very first attempt.
We could talk about the tips like setting up a
timetable, following it religiously, practicing
the previous year papers, etc. But any sincere
aspirant would do these things without some-
one having to tell them so. So, we would
provide you with most of the free resources
around and also focus on the tips that aren’t
usually spoken about. First, the tips:
1. Taking the right guidance for CSIR
NET
Your effort will definitely determine how
soon you succeed, but who determines
whether you are putting in the right kind of
Dear Aspirant,
It’s very easy to search and download CSIR
NET Syllabus in PDF format But no one tells
you about the Important topics for CSIR NET
exam and weightage of important topics. So
in this article, we elaborate on the important
topics and their historical weightage in the
exam.
So Let us divide the syllabus into 2 Parts:
General Aptitude & Subject-based questions
Part A Topics & Weightage:
• Logical Reasoning: 25% Weightage
effort? A guide. Without knowing where and
how to put in the right effort, you might be on
the track of trial and error. And trial and error
is not the way to clear the exam in one shot.
If your focus is to clear in the very first
attempt, then taking guidance/coaching is
a must. And not just any guide, but some-
one with experience and a proven record of
success, someone to whom your success is
equally important, as it is to you, and some-
one who is there at the oddest of hours, just
because you need them. Wouldn’t it be won-
derful to find one guide like that?
2. Regular competitive checks
You could be giving your 100%, but what
if the rest of the aspirants are giving their
200%? If you have no idea about how the rest
of the aspirants are performing, you would
remain under the illusion that your effort
is enough. Having a regular check on your
preparation, through healthy competition
among all the aspirants, is important for you
to know where you stand. It lets you pick the
areas where you need to work.
If you could take up tests that would give
you an All India Score, based on the perfor-
mance, you would then be able to know how
much of the effort you need to put in. Be-
sides, isn’t that a fun way to prepare?
3. Choosing the right resources for CSIR
NET
Despite all the multitasking, you can either
spend time finding out what part of the syl-
labus is more important than the rest, or you
can actually prepare for that syllabus in the
same time. If you could get a source that has
reliable and proven information for sure shot
success, would there be a reason you won’t
use it? Just imagine, if you had a 24*7 avail-
able portal with all this information ( impor-
tant topics, previous years’ papers, mock test
papers, PowerPoints, and animations, etc.) at
a place. Wouldn’t that be the most useful re-
source ever? I’m sure it will be.
There are a number of resources on the in-
ternet, giving free/affordable access to the
content of the kind I have spoken about.
You may also refer to some of the free
content on BioTecNika’s page:
• e-course for CSIR-NET
• A sample of AIMNET test series.
• Free mock test
There are also a number of free webinars
conducted by some organizations, to guide
you to success in CSIR NET.
Also, BioTecNika is a leading portal for
CSIR NET life science/ Chemical science,
with all the above resources in a single place.
I would definitely recommend checking Bio-
tecNika’s success stories out.

Graphical Representation of Above Impor-
tant Topics of CSIR NET & their Weightage
as per the syllabus:
CSIR NET & GATE are one of the Most
coveted exams and folks do everything they
can to simplify their preparation.
While interacting with one of the CSIR
NET Toppers of BioTecNika we discovered
that he had smartly applied this principle and
not just succeeded but succeeded with top
Rank. So what did he do? How did he do it?
Lets Understand:
We all know how it feels to be inefficient:
spending many hours “studying” without
getting much productive work done can be
incredibly frustrating, and is a drain on time
and energy for students everywhere. What
if you could spend LESS time studying, but
still get MORE done in your day? If this
sounds too good to be true, then prepare to
be pleasantly surprised. The secret to max-
imising productivity is The Pareto Principle,
Applying “Pareto Principle”
in CSIR NET & GATE exam
Preparation
By Shekhar Suman
otherwise known as The 80:20 Rule. Pareto
was an Italian economist in the early 1900s,
and he declared that in many aspects of life,
80% of effects come from 20% of causes.
In other words, 80% of your CSIR NET &
GATE exam success will come from 20% of
the work you put in:
Before we apply this Principle, let’s under-
stand the challenges before an Aspirant:
• Huge Syllabus
• Limited Time
• Practicing Quality Questions
• Revision
What is Pareto Principle?
It states that 80% of your results come from
20% of your efforts
How to Apply this in Time Management?
Applying Pareto Principle in Time Manage-
ment is pretty simple. Identify those times of
the day where you are most actively involved
in studying without any distractions. You will
find that out of 10 Hrs you study every day
you are most productive in just 2 Hrs ( approx
) and thus you need to focus there. Want to
know more about Time Management Tech-
niques?
How to Apply this in Managing Vast Syl-
labus?
Did I just say that the Syllabus is Vast?

Interesting question, isn’t it ?
This question haunts every M.Sc Post Grad
now and then . And then you turn to Internet.
The takers of Ph.D will obviously say go for
MBA and the takers of MBA will obviously
say Don’t run behind MBA. Thus we thought
to carefully examine both the routes and un-
derstand which career can make you or break
you.
Lets start with the recent ASSOCHAM
survey which found that only less than 7%
of MBA Grads ( except IIM’s ) are employ-
able. Now lets keep the the findings of this
survey aside and try to understand why and
why not go for an MBA after your M.Sc in
Life Sciences ( Biotech , Biochem, Genet-
ics, Microbio etc ). When you stand at such
a cross road of your career, you need to self
introspect and find out logical answers to the
following questions:
Simple Questions:
• Where you want to see yourself in next
10 years : At Managerial level or Inno-
vator level ?
• Are you a Family Person who wants a 9
to 5 Job or you are a Laboratory Person
• Are you going to be the Primary source
of Income to your Family or Secondary
Source ? If primary then how soon you
need to turn yourself into a Cash Ma-
chine ? , if secondary then how long ?
• What you enjoy the most ? Managing
people, resources, sales, marketing,
finance, Mathematics ? or you Like
working on your core research areas ?
• Can you manage high pressure targets
which comes along with the responsi-
bilities of a manager. or you want to
live life innovating something which
can change the way humans live ?
• Are you ready to be absorbed in the
corporate tsunami of weekly, monthly
quarterly targets ? or you want to spend
7 years of your life working on Just one
PhD thesis ?
What has better prospects :
MBA or Ph.D in
Life Sciences / BioSciences ?
Some Tough Questions :
• How important is money to you ? and
how soon you want to get started earn-
ing ?
• Do you think a simple MBA from a
Tom-Dick-harry college will fetch you
a very high salary package ?
• Do you think after working for your
Ph.D you will start getting a ultra high
salary job ?
The Real Picture :
• An MBA done from a college which is
not in top 50 ranked colleges of India ,
Embrace yourself for a very low salary
job or no placements at all. Read the
Complete ASSOCHAM Survey here
• A Ph.D done via the Non – CSIR NET
/ Non – GATE / Non – ICMR Qualified
route ( in India ) is a waste and may not
yield you desired job
The Litmus Test:
Can you solve this simple maths Problem
below, If yes then you should certainly go
and write CAT exam and try your luck:
• Of the following, which is greater than
½ ?
A. 2/5
B. 4/7
C. 4/9
D. 5/11
E. 6/13
• A cubical block of metal weighs 6
pounds. How much will another cube
of the same metal weigh if its sides are
twice as long?
A. 48
B. 32
C. 24
D. 18
E. 12
Did you really enjoy reading about the con-
cept of head transplant by Dr Sergio ? or did
you really loved the news when you heard an
Indian girl was a part of the Team who un-
veiled the ZIKA Virus structure ? If yes then
go and write the CSIR NET / GATE / DBT
BET / ICMR Exam.
Conclusion:
Write CAT Exam if you are interested in
MBA, Prepare well and then make sure you
qualify it.
By Shekhar Suman
Yes, it is. Let’s accept the fact that studying
everything included in the syllabus of CSIR
NET or GATE can result in 5 Years of Just
pure studying, leave aside the Preparation &
Practice. The syllabus is just the broad guid-
ing principle and you need to effectively ap-
ply the Pareto Principle in identifying those
areas which are important topics for CSIR
NET or GATE exam.
How to maximise that productive 20%
The key to successfully applying the Pareto
Principle to CSIR NET & GATE Preparation
work is making the most of the 20% of your
time that will produce 80% of your results.
Here are a few ways that you can ensure max-
imum productivity when you study: Use the

Here are a few ways that you can ensure
maximum productivity when you study: Use
the Pomodoro Technique Set yourself a
Use the Pomodoro Technique
Set yourself a 25-minute timer, and work on
your chosen task until the timer rings. Take
a short break before you start your next 25
minutes. Once you’ve completed for ‘Pomo-
doros’, take a longer break (20-30 minutes).
Minimise distractions
Use apps to minimise distractions during
these 25-minute bursts of work. Strict Work-
flow, a Google Chrome extension, allows you
to create a blacklist of websites to block for
25 minutes at a time. Similarly, Forest occu-
pies your phone screen with a growing tree
seedling for half an hour, which will die if
you swipe off the app before your work time
is complete!
Choose a Study space
Consistently studying in the same place will
help you to condition yourself to concentrate
more readily when you sit down to work.
Find a location with plenty of natural light,
a large work surface, and as few distractions
as possible. Why not try your dining table, a
spot near a window in a library, or your bed-
room desk?
Be clear about what you want to achieve
Before each Pomodoro begins, have clearly
in mind what work you want to get done in
the next 25 minutes. Write a list of the tasks
you need to complete this week, and break
each one into small steps of around 25 min-
utes in length to be used as Pomodoros. Cross
these off as you go.
Isolate the 20% of the Topics which can
have an impact of up to 80% increase in
your CSIR NET Score.

Let’s look at the “7 Deadly Exam Prepara-
tion Sins” committed by many Aspirants:
1. Not Understanding Concepts com-
pletely:
Many Aspirants make generalizations as to
what concepts are all about. There may be a
specific misconception which can kill your
understanding, but Understanding each Con-
cept’s challenges are going to be different.
This question is asked to us 100 Times
every day, How are we unique, different and
excpetionally successful in whatever we do !
Thus we thought to enlist the reasons which
makes our coaching services exemplary !
• 3D Coaching: When you learn your
brain can remember textual things tem-
porarily (and also you will forget faster)
but Brain can easily remember anima-
tions/ images (thats why you remember
a cinema more than what you study).
Thus learn in our E-Teaching enabled
classroom at Bangalore, Noida, Kolka-
ta or Pune with all Animations, Power-
points, Videos at your disposal.
• Interactive Learning: Our faculty
makes learning two way. You not only
learn the theory via animations but also
solve interactive quizzes after the class
and get the concepts clearer in mind
• Experienced Staff: Our staff have vast
experience in teaching and grooming
Students of all Types. Whether you are
a slow learner, fast learner or a hard
worker. we adjust the pace of teaching
as per your IQ so that you do not find
any topic difficult.
• Intelli Study Material: Our Study
Material ( 14 sets of Printed Books) has
been designed in a manner such that it
is not only good for first time students
but also helps in Quick Recall. Its Up
to date and in lines of the new pattern
of CSIR NET
• Online Study Portal: Biology is a de-
monstrative subject and thus we have
designed our E-Learning Portal in lines
with the fact that each and every ani-
mation, powerpoint and Video shown
in class will be available at your dis-
posal in our Study Portal. besides that
you will also received special -Learn-
ing Modules to groom your conceptual
Knowledge
By Preety Suman
I’ve seen Aspirants conduct poor research on
the right books for the concepts before stud-
ying them, and then fail to ask those concept
specific questions in regards to their unique
needs and pain-points. Instead, they’ll talk on
and on about how great their understanding
of the topic is and its 100’s questions which
they solved. Aspirants need passion for their
preparation, but not at the expense of taking
the time to understand the concepts and not
asking the right questions to the teachers
2. Not Studying:
Most Aspirants explain all the bells and
whistles of their preparation strategy, but fail
to execute the core plan. To do that, you need
to study, study from the right teachers and
spend a lot of time on self study. A prospec-
tive aspirant needs to be ready on spending
hours on the books and the facilities teacher
provides to them, rather than the 100 topics
you’re planning to study, follow the tips pro-
vides in Step 1 and 2. Do not get frustrated if
you are not understanding a topic, approach
the right teachers as quickly as possible and
get it resolved quickly.

nika’s CEO to all CSIR NET Life Science /

in July and want to revise the concepts

tempt it any time, any number of times
