This document discusses places where creativity can be found and shares examples from the author's experiences. It defines creativity as the use of imagination to produce artistic work. Schools, summer camps, vacation bible schools, antique stores, museums, libraries, and theaters are provided as typical places to find creativity. However, the author also discovered creative elements at local parks, bars, restaurants, beaches, and shopping centers. The document concludes by sharing a personal example of the author's creativity in building pallet walls in their home.
2. CREATIVITY IS ….
• Creativity can be defined as the use of the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of
artistic work. It has been said that must be useful to someone else for it to be creative.
4. SCHOOLS (SUMMER CAMPS)
• School is definitely a place
where creativity shines at its
brightest. From creative
writings, plays and skits,
musical performances, to
science experiments; school
allows for students to show
their creativity in many ways.
7. SCHOOL (SUMMER CAMP)
• Summer camps allow for teachers
to be creative as well as students
because they are not limited to such
strict curriculums like they are
throughout a school year.
8. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOLS
• Vacation bible schools are a place you
would typically see creativity as well.
Teachers show their creativity through
decorations and crafts that draw students
in. Each year they are given a theme and
they are allowed to run with the idea.
Students get creative throughout the week
with musical productions, plays and skits,
as well as arts and crafts projects.
11. ANTIQUE STORES
• Antique stores come to mind as a
creative place because you never
know what treasure you will find.
People are always finding ways to
turn trash into treasure. Antique
stores allow creative people to
display their work and sell it for
profit.
15. MUSEUMS
• There are many different types of
museums, but I believe each one
displays creativity in a unique way.
Wetumpka turned its old post office into
a museum, which in itself, is creative.
The month the museum had vintage
wedding dresses on display.
17. LIBRARIES
• Walk into a library and you
enter a world of creativity.
Every book you pick up in a
library is filled with creative
writing and some have creative
illustrations. Libraries even
hold book readings, which can
be considered creative.
21. THEATERS
• Theaters allow actors and
actresses, writers, and
producers ways to express
their creativity. Wetumpka has
a small theater which performs
at least 8-12 plays a year all
written, directed, and acted by
locals.
23. PLACES YOU TYPICALLY WOULD NOT SEE CREATIVITY
ORANGE BEACH FINDINGS
• Local parks and playgrounds /State Parks
• Bars
• Restaurants
• The beach
• Shopping centers
24. LOCAL PARKS AND PLAYGROUNDS
• Playgrounds and parks are
places where creativity CAN be
found but may not be often
enough. I found a park in
Orange Beach where creativity
was obvious from the very first
view of the playground.
25. PARKS AND PLAYGROUNDS
• When entering the playground
area, creativity is evident
through the child handprint
tiles that line both sides of the
entrance.
26. BARS (FLORA-BAMA)
• Believe it or not, but bars can
hold true to be creative places
as well. While on vacation, I
walked into Flora-Bama and
there was a wall that jumped
out to be creative to me. The
wall was cut car tags which
spelled out a quote.
28. RESTAURANTS
• Again in Orange Beach located near the
pass, The Gulf was created by the same
owners as The Hangout. This restaurant to
me screams creative because the entire
restaurant is made from shipping
containers pieced together. As long as it is
pretty weather, come and enjoy this
creative dining (there is not much inside
seating). From sand pits and toys for the
kids, to a bar, gift shop, and a view for
adults, this creative eatery hits the spot.
30. RESTAURANTS
As well as being a
creative shaped
restaurant, they
have taken their
uniqueness and
creativity a step
further. The grass
looking wall in the
picture is a
charging station for
electric cars. The
plants gather
energy from the
sun, which build up
energy, allowing
electric cars to be
plugged in and
charged.
31. THE BEACH
• Sure when you think of creative and the beach
in one sentence you may think of elaborate sand
drawing or castles, but the Pass and Orange
Beach has brought creativity and cleanup into
one idea. The turtle in the photo is a box where
if you need a sand toy you may borrow one and
if you find a sand toy that was left, you may
donate. This creative idea leads to beaches
being cleaner.
32. SHOPPING CENTERS
• While on my scavenger hunt at the beach
for creativity, the first thought that came to
mind was the laser and light show The
Wharf shopping center puts on each night.
The center performs three different light
shows each night. Through music, sounds,
lights, and more, the show causes people
to stop and watch, dance, and record.
These shows take a creative team to come
up with the digital effects which bring the
show to life.
33. A TIME MY CREATIVITY SHONE BRIGHT
• My friends consider me a creative person. They called on me to paint for them, they always
ask my opinion for artsy ideas, and love all of the things I build. I can find an idea on Pinterest
and most of the time recreate for myself. A time most recent that I would say my creativity
got the best of me was building a pallet wall in my nursery and in my kitchen. The idea began
with a picture and transformed into much more. We wanted an accent wall in the nursery
with painted and antiqued pieces of wood. I had stipulations though. I didn’t want thick wood
because it would stick out past my baseboards. I didn’t want rough wood because the baby
could get splitters later, and I didn’t want unison. After searching for the perfect wood, we
found it easier to buy large panels of 1/8 in plywood, paint them, sand them, and cut them.
34. A TIME MY CREATIVITY SHONE BRIGHT
• After many hours of cutting and sanding, measuring and nailing, the wall was complete. We
love it. Everyone on social media loved it. We had done it! We had people messaging us
about doing one in their house. After loving the one in the nursery so much, we did one in
our kitchen also. This time we got smart and let Lowes make all the lengthy cuts which saved
us hours of work. The walls serve a purpose like creative ideas are supposed to. The wall in
the kitchen serves the purpose of hiding splashes that sometimes occur from the trashcan
being in front of that wall and the wall in the nursery served the purpose of well…making a
little girl’s room anything but ordinary.

BEFORE AND AFTER
37. CREATIVITY IS …
• Creativity is most places, but I think sometimes in
the places not as obvious to us, we must have a
creative individual to be able to locate it.
