2. Primary Research
In terms of primary research I have created a survey that I asked many people within my
target audience to fill out so that therefore I could get an idea of my target audiences
opinions on the product I will creating and make improvements based on these responses
in an appropriate manner, an example of this was the exclusion of the 'Tate modern’ as
many of the responses to that specific building were very negative and I feel I dealt with
this in a diplomatic fusion by removing this building, this survey also helped me refine my
target audience and get a true representation

I also met with the producer John Pollock as he talked about creating media products and the difficulties that
come with this process and I felt that this helped me further develop my product as when thinking about my
ideas I considered what exactly I would be doing during the creation of that particular product.
Primary research as a whole was very helpful as It allowed me to take things that I did within the real world and
apply them to my product In a way that would improve my final product while improving my general research
skills.
3. Secondary research
In terms of secondary research I did plenty, one of the most helpful things I did was go to the library
and looked at 3 different magazines that I felt were fairly similar to the kind of magazine I was
looking to create and these magazines gave me a good idea as to what exactly a magazine generally
looks like and I think out of all of them ‘Blueprint 351’ was the best as it had some very interesting
photography of buildings that I felt had a big inspiration on my magazine and you can see some
correlation between Blueprint 351 and my magazine ‘Global London’. I also looked at the website of 2
of the buildings within London that I was going to research on, The Shard and The Gherkin and this
made me think about who works in these buildings and then I looked at the ‘staff’ section on The
Gherkin’s website and they were all white males and this had a big influence on my Audience of a
upper-class, white and male audience and this changed many things about my magazine such as the
general design as my audience generally wear basic clothing, so therefore I wanted to give it that
‘basic’ look.
I also looked at several different articles about who owns buildings within London such as the article
on the gherkin and its owners where I began to really take an interest into what globalization is and
inspired me to bring this big issue into the public eye and make what is exactly what is going on in
these buildings much more interesting than just some facts and figures within a newspaper, this
ultimately lead to my final product.

4. Planning
When we first began to planning we started with the basics by creating a style sheet, flat plan and risk assessment
for our photoshoot, these were a very good start although I feel that we could have added more detail into these
documents to make them just that more effective at creating my magazine at a faster pace so I would have more
time for evaluation, but aside from this I am very proud of the style sheet as I feel it was exactly what I was looking
for and helped a lot when I needed soothing to refer to when putting everything together and helped me keep the
color theme constant and this overall made me more confident with my design that I wouldn’t have been without
these initial documents.
Apart from this first initial planning I did, I done several other things one of these being the design of the magazine
header which illustrates many of the designs I had, making these designs helped me understand my options in
terms of designs for my magazine and ultimately these designs helped me create my final header which can be
seen on my final product when I mixed all of these designs/inspired by all of these designs. Another type of
planning was booking and emailing such as when I booked the Sky View and e-mailed the shard and both helped
me eventually get much better shots than I would have gotten had I not contacted these places and I felt this was
some very good planning, but I also feel that I could have planed the whole day I was photographing as I feel it
was very unorganized and next time I will do this as I don’t want this problem next time.
In terms of time management I felt I could have done a much better job as I spent much of my time designing my
magazine and not enough time actually creating and developing the content within my magazine which is just as
important and next time I do anything like this I will be committed to the content just as much as the design as I
feel this will give me a much more better overall product that I am not just proud to look at but to actually read
and enjoy
