11. Surface Web: The Surface Web (also called the Visible Web, Indexed Web, Indexable Web or
Lightnet) is that portion of the World Wide Web that is readily available to the general public and
searchable with standard web search engines. It is the opposite of the deep web
Deep Web: The deep web (also called deepnet, the invisible web, dark web or the hidden web) refers
to world wide web content that is not part of the surface web, which is indexed by standard search
engines.
How Big is Deep Web: The deep web is about 500 times bigger than the surface. It was estimated
that the deep web contained approximately 7,800 terabytes of data and 550 billion individual
documents.
NB: Deep web is basically made for US Navy

Tor or The Onion Router is a network that enables a
user to stay anonymous on the internet and get rid of
any possible surveillance, location tracking, etc. while
using the internet. We can access the Tor network with
the help of a modified Mozilla Firefox ESR web
browser.
Tor or The Onion Router allows a person to browse the
web anonymously by veiling the actual identity of the
user. It protects the user from any traffic analysis and
network spying.
