3. DESIGN
The design for my digipak, advert and website is very simple as I have
said previously. Some of the aspects of my design do not represent the
genre of my music, which is RnB. The layout of my digipak is very
similar to an RnB one, as it usually has a close up of the artist at the
front of the CD and a whole body image at the back. The
advert, however, varies as it different for any RnB artist. The layout for
my website is simple because I wanted the audience to be able to access it
easily.
4. COLOUR
Through the use of colour, I have made it clear to my audience that I am
promoting the same thing all this time. I have used the colours brown, pink and
white throughout my website, digipak and advert. I did this because I knew that it
is very important that the audience can identify the things I am promoting. If all
the colours were done differently and had no relation to each other
whatsoever, this would confuse the audience and therefore wouldn’t be able to
identify the artist and the work that the artist has done. However, because all my
colours relate to each other and I have a theme this has given the audience an
instant idea of who the artist is and what the album is.
The colours that I have used however do not reflect the genre of my music as I
have again challenged the typical convention. Colours usually related to RnB
would be dark colours such as black, navy and grey. I have chosen the colours I
have chosen; simply because I wanted it to be different bust still represent RnB. I
also believed that the colours I have chosen reflects my target audience, because
my target audience are teenage girls, the colours can be associated with them.
5. COSTUME
The costume of my artist in the digipak, advert, music video and the website
are all very similar to each other, which is girly. I have chosen this type of
costume as I know it is on trend now. I also wanted my artist to be a role
model, therefore the clothes she is wearing could set trend and make other
people wear it. I think that this relates back to the genre which is RnB, as most
female artist in this genre are usually role models and often set trends for
other people to follow. Although RnB female artists barely have clothing in
their music video, I believe I have still managed to achieve this but differently.
Due to the weather changes, it was very difficult to have minimal clothing as
what is said to be a convention of RnB, however I have still managed to style
my artist looking classy but made sure that the audience will know what genre
her music is from the costume she is wearing.
6. TARGET AUDIENCE
I have promoted my music video and artist to teenage girls as I believe the song I have
featured on my music video would be something that they can relate to. I have made sure
that the design, colour, mesc-en scene, font and costume can be relatable to the target
audience and also to the genre that the song is in, which is RnB.
As I have said above most of the reasons why I have chosen the way my digipak, advert and
website look like they are now so that it suits the audience that is trying to target. The
colours I have used were chosen because of how it suited the target audience; the colour
pink is the stereotype of a girl and my target audience are girl. However, because I know I
am targeting teenage girls they would most likely be attracted to pastel colours which is why
I have used colours such as pastel pink and brown.
I have used the target audience to be able to promote my artist, which is through the
costumes. Being a role model place a big part in the music industry, this is because you can
set trends that people can follow, and a lot of people can and will look up to you. By
wearing classy costumes but also represents the genre can benefit the target audience as it
mean they could copy what the artist wears and would still look classy.
7. FONT
The font I have used for my digipak and advert are the same throughout. I
believe that when the audience can identify the font, they can identify the
artist.
It is very important that my artist can easily identify the artist through the
font, as they would most likely to be reading the title before looking at the
picture.
I also made the fonts very similar to each other because of the research and
planning, I have done. By looking at other artist’ work, they have used the
same font and style for every advertisement that they have done for the
album.
