Teaching Strategies/Methods
 There are different strategies which are used by
educationist with a passage of time to teach the
students in more effective way.
 At the end of the session we will be able to
understand fifteen teaching methods used up to the
day.
 provide a balanced growth of the total
personality of man through training of the human
spirit, intellect, rational self, feelings and
bodily senses. The training imparted to a Muslim
must be such that faith is infused into the whole
of his personality and creates in him an
emotional at
 In Islam, the concept of knowledge is
inextricably bound up with its belief system,
particularly, al-tawhid (unity of God).
 Islamic education integrates all knowledge and
disciplines with Islamic ideology.
 In short, Islamic education recognizes the
jurisdiction of God Almighty in all
disciplines. In fact, God occupies a centre court
in Islamic education.

Why need t. tecniques
 The crisis of modern-day Islamic education is
rooted, in large part, in the way we teach our
children about Islam.
 This approach which focuses primarily on
conveying information about Islam, has failed
to capture the hearts and minds of our youth.
 Effective Teaching LearningThe vision of effective Islamic teaching and
learning being discussed is based on a dynamic
rather than static, view of Islam and Islamic
education.
 This view is rooted in the belief that the
mission of Islam is to positively transform the
world, and that the purpose of Islamic education
is to prepare young men and women capable of
carrying out this mission.

Teaching Strategies/Methods
1. Kindergarten
2. Montessori
3. Project Method
4. Discussion Method
5. Inductive Method
6. Deductive Method
7. Text Book Method
8. Discovery Method
 Effective Teaching LearningSome essential factors
for effective teaching and
learning are
 Meaningful
 Integrative
 Values-based
 Challenging
 Active
 Instructional Standards
Teaching Strategies/Methods
9. Problem Solving Method
10. Demonstrative Method
11. Group Method
12. Jigsaw (Puzzle) Method
13. M-Teaching
14. Micro Teaching
15. Use of AV Aids in Teaching (Teacher Centered)
16. Activity Based Teaching Method (student
Centered)
Kindergarten
 Introduced by Fredrik Frobel in 1782. He was a
German.
 Make First teacher training institute.
 First time introduction of female as teacher
 Method of teaching of Fredrik Frobel :
 Gifts for students, color balls, triangle of woods,
parallelograms of wood etc.
Montessori
Madam Montessori introduces this method. She
worked in a hospital of disabled and work for
mentally disabled child for their recovery. She used
this method to improve the disabled child.
In this method she used:
1. No books and uniforms for students,
2. Racks available for their material
3. Teaching by playing
4. Use of rack door as aboard for writing
5. Sitting in a lawn for studying
6. Teacher is just a coach or helper
Project Method
 Projects are given to the students
 Visit to Zoo or sugar mills or garden
 Students write down the essays on different topics
after visits.
Discussion method:
1. Teacher is a coach
2. Two groups of students like one for benefits of
newspaper and the other for its side effects.
Inductive Method
 Easy to difficult direction and the result is given by
the students.
Deductive Method
 Totally opposite to the inductive method, some law
or formula given to the students and they solve the
questions by itself at the end.
Text Book Method
 Mostly used in Pakistan
Discovery Method
 This method was discovered by Archimedes &
Aristotle.
 Teacher is a like a coach
 work is done by the students
Problem Solving Method
 Hypothesis
 Experiment
 and results
 Not applicable in lower classes just for higher classes
because it is not applicable to cover the curriculum.
Demonstrative Method
 Show by doing of practical in front of students by the
teacher. Students are just viewers.
Group Method:
 By making various groups one student is the leader
of the group. Every group has different topics.
Jigsaw Method:
 Introduced by the country China. mixing one
member of every group to make a new group. Every
group has grip on many topics.
M-Teaching (Mobile Teaching)
 Introduced by British English Council. Most
advanced technology. Audio recording in the cell by
the students in his own voice. Students listen their
own voice in the audio and enjoy.
Micro Teaching
 Teacher make his own video in the class of his
lecture.
 Then analyze himself to improve his shortcomings.
Use of AV Aids in Teaching
(Teacher Centered)
It is teacher centered
Teacher used the AV Aids jus like:
 Charts
 Board
 Book
 TV
 Radio
 Tape recorder
 Projector etc.
Activity Based Teaching Method (student
Centered)
 It is student centered method
 The main principal of this method is to use the low
cost / no cost material during activities
Examples of “home made”
Primary mathematics teaching aids
A 1-meter circumference wheel
for measuring distances, marked at 10-
cm intervals
(home-made version)
Number
and Letter
Fans
For example, if a fan has nine
blades, and each blade has one of
the following letters:
s, t, e, a, i, m, p, r, c
Here are twenty spellings that could
be tested:
cat mat pat rat
tear meat cast seat
steam peas pair pear
praise price tease mist
“Signal Response” cards: mathematics
Examples of the
technique being
used in
classrooms
Example “Literacy
Dominoes”
(incomplete set)
The “secret” of designing
successful dominoes sets
is to ensure that the right-
hand side of the last
domino matches the left-
hand side of the first
domino!
What ideas could these inspire?
Maths Dominoes!
It shows “Addition Dominoes”
However, dominoes can be designed for
almost any level of mathematics and for
almost any type of mathematical operation.
This example should NOT be copied, for
copyright reasons, but it may inspire
creative ideas!
What ideas do you have!?
Place value game!
This example, available BY using
back side of kids game available at
shops (Puzzle Games)
Compound Word
Maths Dice!
Compound words
Break + Fast= Breakfast
Friend +Ship=Friendship
Up + Stairs=Upstairs
Maths Dice!
These examples are from ludo balls
An example of a
maths dice game
Roll three dice. Arrange to choose a score.
Play, say, five rounds. Add scores.
Highest total score could be the winner
Word Game
The “Board” is made up of different nouns
The playing cards are made up of
different adjectives
The idea is to match appropriate
adjectives to different nouns
What might be the rules for this game,
and how could it be played?
(For example, it could involve “Connect
4”: There might be two sets of cards in
different colours, for each player.)
What other variations can you think of?
This can be used for any subject, at any
level.
Make an appropriate pack of question
cards.
Question cards are placed in a pile face
down. Move by throwing a dice.
Land on a snake: Answer a question.
Wrong answer = slide down the snake.
Correct answer = stay put!
Land on a ladder : Answer a question.
Wrong answer = stay put! Correct
answer = climb the ladder!
Home-made wooden
toys for creative play
Pizza Box
Story
Board
Flannelboard
Arguably one of the best teachings aids ever – but one that largely seems
forgotten about! This is all the more unfortunate as images from magazines
and the Internet are more available than ever!
Flannelboard
A small square of course glass-paper or “Velcro” (the spikey side) is glued
on the back of images to create the “magnetic” effect.
Use a background cloth with a strong, dark, colour. The cloth should have a
woolly texture to help the images to stick.
Mathematical and other models with Pipe
cleaners and straws
Whole School Grounds
Skipping Ropes: often
popular with girls!
Low-cost “ping pong”
table
(Examples from China:
“The Gansu Basic Education Project”)
