Leprosy is a chronic disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae. it is directly effects nerves a
nd mucous membrane.
Leprosy, also known as Hansen's disease, is a chronic infectious disease caused by
Mycobacterium leprae. The disease mainly affects the skin, the peripheral nerves, mucosal
surfaces of the upper respiratory tract and the eyes.
Leprosy is known to occur at all ages ranging from early infancy to very old age.

Tuberculoid leprosy is a milder, less severe form of leprosy. People with this type have only
one or a few patches of flat, pale-colored skin (called paucibacillaryleprosy). The affected are
a of skin may feel numb because of nerve damage underneath. Tuberculoid leprosy is less
contagious than other forms.
Lepromatous leprosy is a more severe form of the disease. It has widespread skin bumps and
rashes (called multibacillary leprosy), numbness, and muscle weakness.It is more contagious
than tuberculoid leprosy.

Clofazimine inhibits mycobacterial growth and binds preferentially to mycobacterial DNA.

leprosum reactions.
