COM CNC series of spring coiling machines
The COM CNC spring coilers are running
with servo motor driven axes. The machines
are designed for production of cylindrical
(compression and extension), conical springs
(one side, both sides) and rings from round
spring steel material almost all qualities. The
machines are equipped with 2-coiling points
system. They run cam-less (direct driving and
direct control) for right and left coiled springs.
Our new real time SpringDesigner 3D
software allows instatnt visual changes in the
spring design with the protection of the bad
input of the spring parameters. Lot of new
developed adjustment options makes the
programming and work on these machines
very easy.
Our brand new SCPC vision/camera spring
gage measuring system for COM CNC spring
coilers is modern and inteligent solution for
continous control and correction of the coiled
springs.Thesofwareiscompletelyintegratedin
the COM CNC IPC control unit and guarantees
smooth operating of the whole system.

WIM CNC spring lathe coilers
Automatic servo controlled WIM CNC
spring lathe coilers are used for cold
production of right and left coiled cylindrical
andonesideconical*1
,compression,extension
and torsion springs, different wire forms*1
and
double torsion springs (double torsion springs
on request only - see also our LDT and DTL-R
product line on page 10, 14).
Through the use of up to 5 controlled
axis (4AX + 5AX system*) you can reach
higher productivity and a lot of possibilities
for production of different 2D wire forms and
bends on the spring legs. Machine feed the
wire, coils and cuts completely automatically.
ThemachinecanbeequippedalsowithWCS*
wire catching system for the 1st coil. Through
the use of WCS you can produce completely
automatically compression and extensions
spring bodies (without scrap). The HMI CNC
control unit (available only on standard
systems) is very user friendly and has a lot of
possibilities.
The graphical SpringMasterSM4software
(available on 4AX and 5AX systems) is unique
software specially designed by our team for
use with WIM CNC machines. The software is
also “learning” with each programmed spring
or wire form. That means that with each next
program the machine is more adapted to
the operator in order to implement better
his wishes. Additionally there is very nice
feature of managing of the made springs
also with an external backup option.

Custom made spring lathe coilers

DTL-R CNC are fully automatic servo controlled CNC
double torsion coiling machine. The machines are designed
specially for the production of spring tines (double torsion
springs) by one robotised line.
Using own developed new IPC CNC control unit with the
3D SpringDesigner software makes programming very
user friendly and easy. New integrated adjustment options
make the programming and operating on whole line
comfortable and you can achieve desired repeatability and
productivity.
Line can be equipped on demand with two coiling stations
which will on customer demand increase the productivity
up to 400 pieces/hour. Standard line with one coiling station
reaches up to 200 pieces/hour.
The cost effectiveness is very good.

The LDT line consist of two machines.
LDT OBL servo controlled machine is used
for wire straightening (from the wire coil)
and than for production U-forms which are
used for making spring tines (double torsion
springs) on LDT DT machine. The feeding unit
consists of wire straightener (3 segments) and
2 pairs of feeding rolls. The cutting is done by
one hydraulic cylinder and the bending is done
by another hydraulic cylinder (on request even
more). It is necessary to use the power reel (see
HMV) in order to guarantee the accuracy.
LDT DT servo controlled machine is used
for coiling of spring tines (double torsion
springs) from bended U-forms which could be
made on LDT OBL servo controlled machine.
These machines can be used as a single
machine or in the line.

GRM CNC servo controlled semi-automatic spring
end grinders are used for horizontal crush or down-
feed grinding. The automatic height adjustment in
coordination with the number of revolutions of the
grinding wheels increases the capacity and efficiency.
The programmable control technology for the loading
table simplifies the loading of the machine. Automatic
unloading and semi-automatic compensation of
grinding wheel wear increase the productivity even
more.

The company “Fortuna Federn” was founded by Mr. Juray Fofonjka in year 1975
in Gross St. Florian (West Styria in Austria) as a manufacturer of technical springs.
In year 1976 the company has moved and since than it is situated in Poelfing
Brunn. The company has growth and back in year 1985 has already 25 employees.
Because of the hart competition and high production costs Mr. Juray Fofonjka
has decided back in the year 1989 to move out the production of technical
springs to Croatia (at that time still Yugoslavia). His two older sons Dalibor and
Drazen Fofonjka have taken over the management of new production company
“Phoenix d.o.o.” in Croatia and are managing the company very successful since
than. At that time there was an idea to produce beside springs also the spring
making machinery. The reason was big experience in spring manufacturing
of Mr. Juray Fofonjka who always had ideas how to improve the procedure of
production of the springs.
Meanwhile “Fortuna Federn” with over 70 employees in total has become global
established producer of spring making machinery which is presented each year
on the biggest shows for spring makers. Customers are placed all over the world
from New Zealand over Japan, Asia and Europe to North- and South America.
In year 1998 the youngest son Goran Fofonjka has joined to the company and
in November 2006 Mr. Juray Fofonjka has retired and Goran has taken over
completely the management of the head office in Austria. The secion of the
machinery production for the springs industry makes already more than 90 % of
the total turnover. The springs production is kept smaller (Croatian and Austrian
market). The main reason for that is to have a possbility to test machinery in
the real production and to be able to have a feedback for the own machinery
construction. With this Fortuna Federn is unique spring machine producer on
the world market.
