Senior Infants
They care for me

2. Mr Spud was just starting to make dinner for
the children after school when he realised
the potatoes were all gone!

3. He set off to Tillie’s shop. As he
was walking he was afraid he
might forget the message he was
going for so he kept saying over
and over, ‘Potatoes, potatoes,
potatoes.’

4. Tillie had a new till like they have
in the big supermarkets. All she
had to do was show the label that
had the price on it to the till and
it would go ‘Beep’. She was having
great fun!

5. ‘Ask me for anything you like, Mr Spud’ she
giggled, ‘it’s only a game!’
Mr Spud thought hard. ‘A large size tub of
chocolate chip ice cream please Tullie.’ She
found it and waved it in front of the till and
it beeped.

6. They laughed. Then Mrs. Mack came in with
her children. ‘Ask me for anything!’ Tullie
said. ‘A large size tub of chocolate chip ice
cream please Tullie.’ She found it and waved
it in front of the till and it beeped. Everyone
laughed.

7. Then walked in Miss _____ with all of
the senior infants class. ‘Ask me for
anything!’ Tullie said. ‘A large size tub
of…’ before they could finish, the till
started making dreadful noises:
‘Whiirrr, clickety, brrrmmm!’.

8. ‘Sniff, sniff,’ said Tullie. ‘What’s
that smell?’ said Mr Spud. ‘The
till is on fire!’ shouted the
children. ‘Phone the fire brigade!’
shouted Mrs Mack. ‘Phone for an
ambulance for Tullie because she
has fainted!’ Mr Spud said.

9. At the hospital the porter, nurse
and Dr put her to bed, listened to
her chest, looked into her eyes
and told her to say ‘Aaagh’,
looking down her throat. The
nurse felt her pulse and said,
‘Don’t worry, you’ll be fine, we’ll
look after you!’

10. The fire brigade arrived and
pointed a big hose at the fire.
‘Whooosh’ went the water.

11. ‘Thank goodness everyone is well
and safe,’ said Mrs Mack. They all
had a big celebration that night
to celebrate the help of the
people of (insert school area).

12. Later that night, Mr Spud lay in
bed. He sat up suddenly. ‘Oh
dear, I can’t sleep! I can’t help
getting the feeling that I’ve
forgotten something….’
