Q. Can you guarantee the quality of education? (How can you assure the quality of education?)
A. The quality assurance is one of our big challenges. I believe that we
will find a good way to guarantee the quality of education. We will continue advancing the demonstration of the PoW system from April, and we hope to see an optimal method from the experiment result.
Q. Can you elaborate on Gresham?
A. Sir Thomas Gresham is a British financier and a trading merchant in the 16th century. He served queens Mary the first and Elizabeth the first, worked as a royal treasurer, and he was credited with the remodeling of money and the creation of the Royal Exchange. He is known as a proponent of Gresham's law "Bad money drives out good.”
Q. I want to know more about Drucker’s statement, “from industrialized society to knowledge society.”
A. Drucker stated in 1969 that in the society of industrialization, people, goods, and money were essential. But, knowledge would be the essential resource for the intellectual society to come.
He pointed out that the three main factors of the capitalist society; land, labor, and capital are only but specified conditions to make knowledge work efficiently.
Q. Why EPUB3?
A. At present, I think that the EPUB 3 format is the optimal file format for our “Knowledgization” capsule. The EPUB 3 format can organize multiple pieces of information and handle various information such as characters, metadata, sounds, images as a group of files. However, the outlook of the EPUB standards is unclear as well, and there are restrictions for flexible operation of “Knowledgization” capsule, so we are considering whether we will continue to use it in future. We are not going to stick to the EPUB format.
Q. Why Hyperledger Fabric?
A. There are two types of Blockchain: a public type such as bitcoin or Ethereum, and a consortium type like Hyperledger. We are experimenting using both types. The initial version of our learning economic model was built using Ethereum. The current system uses Hyperledger Fabric.
Both public type and consortium type each has its advantages and disadvantages. I would like to find out which one fits the best from the experimental results to come.
Q.How can you collect pieces of information using SNS?
A. We adopted SNS because it was the most affordable means. It is
used to gather fragments of information obtained in our daily life. In the future, we are also considering collecting big data using the various IoT sensors.
Q. How can you systemize the information collected from SNS? Is it possible?
A.There are many challenges we must face in the experiment starting in April. One of them is the mechanism to organize the information. But, I am optimistic that this mechanism will work out well. I am sure that we will be able to inform you of the outcome in next year's CSEDU.
Q: A learning platform on the blockchain like tutellus (https://www.tutellus.io) already exists. What is the difference between such a service and the proposed model?
Q. We are using Blockchain to build a learning economy model, not the other way around (not to build a learning economy model for Blockchain).
What is essential for us is to build a learning economy model.
