1. The 2022 Golf Season So Far
I’ve snuck in 2 rounds so far this season. My best hole so far is the 19th! It has been that way
for years, but I digress. I’ve been going the day after heavy rain, so a lot of the back 9 has
mostly been hitting from mud.
I have been working out some kinks in my game, mainly with my long game. The good news,
I am driving the ball very well, for the most part. My accuracy is a little off, trying to
compensate for my slice. I’m hitting fairways ~ 60% of the time, so I can live with that. I’ve
been botching the 2nd shot more often than not, but I’ve been doing that for years. My short
game is still the best part of my game. Putting, well…., I should play a course with smaller
greens.
The 1st round, I wasn’t in the right frame of mind, and just had no distance. MY accuracy was
there, but I just had no oomph to my swing. My contact felt solid, but it was just one of those
days. I threw the score card out halfway through. I started hitting better off the tee on the
back, but I would have been better off with a canoe than cart, so it is hard to accurately judge
how I played. If the weather wasn’t so nice, I’d likely have just given up.
The 2nd round, the front went very well, except for 1 hole I kept hitting trees. The bounces
weren’t favorable. I should have just popped it out onto the fairway, but I felt like going for it. I
know better, but it was fun. Then we hit the halfway house, and I might have overtayed my
welcome. It started off good, but once my halfway house fun kicked in, I completely fell apart.
My distance was ok, but 1 shot I’m in the woods to the right, the next, out of bounds on the
left. At least I didn’t have to drive home. If I didn’t hit the ½ way house, I think I’d have had a
great back nine.
So overall, despite it being ugly, I think I’m in a good spot. On dryer days, I should be ok with
my fairway shots. Keep in mind, though it wasn’t cart path only, I sill was staying on the path so
I didn’t rip the fairways apart.
