Tool & Die Maintenance
 Working for a tier 1 Supplier who stamps panels and welds sub-assembled parts for
Mercedes Benz International and Nissan.

2.  Helped launch the 164 Program and 251 Program of the Mercedes M-class and
R-class vehicles.
 Responsible for engineering changes (trim, form, flange, etc.) for quality
improvements and model changes to meet the customers demands.
 Repair and maintenance of transfer & progressive dies to produce quality parts
efficiently.
 Operate many types of machinery (bridge port, surface grinders, drill press, lathe, and
operate large CNC mill manually).
 Experienced Welder (tig, mig, and arc welding).
 Involved in Continuous Improvement (KAIZEN) of dies to improve the quality of
parts and efficiency of the dies or SPM (strokes per minute) in production to keep up
with our customers demands.
 Lead Tool Maker on 1st shift, often filling in as the Team Leader in charge of the tool

 Well experienced trouble shooter, solving many downtime issues including: splits,
wrinkles, part bounce, transfer, location problems, burrs, pullback, scrap fall,

 Traveled to some of Gestamps suppliers (Sanderson & Narmco) and customer
(Mercedes Benz Int.) to follow up any quality issues we may have with our
assemblies or direct shipments to Mercedes.

Die Maker/Die Tryout Specialist
 Work extensively in new die construction of draw, trim, re-strike, and flange & pierce
dies for inner and mostly outer skin panels (frame rails, floor panels, body sides,
doors, quarter panels, hoods, fenders, deck lids, etc.).
 Specialized mostly in working with Class A dies.
 Followed dies from construction to production in the following types of application;
(Robotic line transfer, transfer dies, tandem dies, and progressive dies).
 Prototype tooling to include; stamping, hammer forming, and metal finishing of
prototype parts to qualify before the approval of the production dies to be built.
 Blank development of material in the draw die to produce the blank dies.
 New die tryout; working with new dies to completion to produce a quality panel for
buy off to go into production (Punch finishing, spotting, drawing split free part,
nesting and spotting all operations to co-holes, trim and form changes to part spec.
 Extensive experience with engineering changes (trim and form) to what the customer
demands.
 Excellent tig welding ability.
