Startup attracts Silicon Valley talent and 5 million unique visitors last month
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 24, 2012 --Scoop.it announces its Board of Advisors, a group of Silicon Valley talent
with experience in entrepreneurship, venture capital and marketing. Meanwhile, the social media and
curation publishing platform gained 5 million unique visitors last month, a 25 percent increase from the
previous month.
Ro Choy, VP of business development at BitTorrent and former COO of Formspring, will join the Board of
Directors. Jai Choi, founder at Tekton Ventures, which has funded early stage startups such as
UserVoiceand TasteMakerX; and Baochi Nguyen, director of social strategy at RingCentral, havejoined the
Board of Advisors to guide and assist the San Francisco startup.

Ro Choy, a Silicon Valley veteran, is currently the VP of business development and marketing at
BitTorrent. He started his career at eBay and then went on to work for RockYou, a social gaming
company, where he led the company's growth from $300,000 to $35M per year as the chief revenue
officer. Prior to joining BitTorrent, Choy was the CEO of PeerPong, which raised a Series A of $2.8M from
First Round Capital, DCM and Charles River Ventures, and was acquired by Formspring in May 2011.
Choy graduated with an MBA from Stanford University and a Bachelor's in Economics from Duke
University.
Jai Choi's extensive experience in Silicon Valley spans over 15 years of successfully building startups as
well as raising and investing capital. Currently, he is the founder and managing director at Tekton
Ventures, which has funded early stage startups including UserVoice, Chute, Tinfoil Security, Coupang,
and TasteMakerX. Earlier in his career, Choi cofounded On-Air Networks, one of the first web radio
application companies to deliver copyright licensed music over the Internet. On-Air was founded in 1997
and then acquired in 1999 by Loudeye, a Nokia company. Choi was also the seed investor and co-founder
of PeerPong, which Choi incubated at Partech Ventures, a search and semantic analysis company. Choi
graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Southern California.
Baochi Nguyen is a marketer and strategist in the tech industry with over 14 years of digital, mobile, and
product marketing experience. Currently, she is the director of social strategy at RingCentral. Prior to
RingCentral, Baochi worked at Boingo Wireless, first as a product marketing manager and then as a social
media strategist. Earlier in her career, Nguyen developed her marketing expertise at leading technology

with a Master's and Bachelor's of Arts from Stanford University.
