2. ACTORS
To allow our audience to recognise our film ‘Voices’ we used the same actors
on each product. However, the audience may not be able to recognise the
characters on the poster but it still gives the audience familiarity with the film.
We chose to but the main character on the magazine cover by himself in order
to highlight his significance within the film. This creates the link for the
audience between all three products.
3. SETTING
Across our trailer and magazine, we tried to use the backgrounds as a way for
the audience to establish where the film is set. It was also used as a way to
reflect the crime/thriller genre. The establishing shot in our trailer is of a grey
scene of the flats where the majority of the film is set . We used a bleak look
on the background of the magazine as well to emphasise this the genre and
the location.
4. FONTS
In all of our products we used the same font throughout. The font we used was
‘Crimes Times Six’ as it was the font we chose and that our audience liked the
best. Using the same font across our products helps to make them
recognisable to our film and makes it successful as a marketing campaign.
The only difference between each title is the colours used. One of them is
black and the other two are white. This may confuse some of our audience,
however, they should still be able to recognise our film due to the font being
the same.
5. COLOUR
All the shots in our trailer were dark as we added an effect to each clip. Due to
this the colours within the trailer were quite dull and bland which fit in with the
genre of crime/thriller. We used this in each of our products by having dull
shots and editing in the trailer, magazine and poster. This emphasises the
crime/thriller part of our trailer as it shows our film as being full of mystery
and suspense.
6. SHOTS
We wanted to use a shot in our trailer that linked well with the poster. We
liked the last shot within the trailer and wanted to use a similar shot to this for
our poster as it would link well and would create a lot of suspicion and
mystery. Although, the use of silhouettes reduces the link between the trailer
and the poster as it may not be immediately clear who each of the characters
are. Also the silhouettes and the final walking shot link to the key point and
plot line within our products. It suggest that there is more to the friends than
meets the eye.
7. PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION COMPANIES
In order for us to show the link between all our products we used the logos for
Castle Rock Entertainment and Warner Bros on our poster and final trailer
intertitle.
These logos will be instantly recognisable to the audience as they are big
production/distribution companies and makes them think that our products
are going to be of good and professional standard. These companies are
expected to market big films so will make our work stand out and be
attractive to fans of the production/distribution companies and also fans of
the crime/thriller genre.
