A senior vice president of one of the world’s leading software houses explained his business challenges in drawing two parallel lines on the board. He described his company as one of the most efficient on the planet, efficient to a point in which most companies’ had already purchased their software. His challenge: convincing his organization that there was something else to sell. He pointed to the “bottom line” and lamented that his employees knew its importance only too well. He pointed to the top line and continued: how can we leverage information technology to that has been designed to reduce costs to sell innovation, creativity and passion as a means of growing our business? How does one get to the top in following the bottom line?
