Considerations for Robot Operations -
Economic Analysis of Robots.

 It is also known as internal logistics
 It involves the movement and storage of materials
inside a given production environment.
 Material handling is the movement, protection,
storage and control of materials and products
throughout manufacturing, warehousing,
distribution, consumption and disposal.
Material Handling

 To speed up the movement of equipment, assist with
mechanical aids, and eliminate manual labour.
 Reduce the transport involved in the production of a
material.
 To move the maximum number of pieces as possible in
one unit. Done by using principles of cartelization, unit
load, or centralization
 Regular check-up, maintenance, and repair of material
handling equipment.
 Reduce the distance that the material has to be
transported using the shortest route possible

Material Handling Equipment

 Bulk material handling is an engineering field that is
centered on the design of equipment used for the
handling of dry materials. Bulk materials are those
dry materials which are powdery, granular or lumpy
in nature, and are stored in heaps.
 Bulk material handling is an essential part of all
industries that process bulk ingredients, including:
food, beverage, confectionery, pet food, animal feed,
tobacco, chemical, agricultural, polymer, plastic,
rubber, ceramic, electronics, metals, minerals, paint,
paper, textiles and more.
Bulk material handling

 Bulk material handling systems are typically composed of
stationary machinery such as conveyor belts, screw
conveyors, tubular drag conveyors, moving floors, top
loaders, stackers, re-claimers, bucket elevators, truck
dumpers, railcar dumpers or wagon tipplers, ship loaders,
hoppers and diverters and various mobile equipment such as
loaders, mobile hopper loaders / un-loaders, various shuttles,
combined with storage facilities such as stockyards, storage
silos or stockpiles.
 Advanced bulk material handling systems feature integrated
bulk storage, conveying (mechanical or pneumatic), and
discharge.

 RGV is a flexible transportation vehicle.
 Here the multiple vehicles can be operated according
to the transportation requirement.
 RGV system constitutes of transportation rail,
vehicle and controller

Types of control on AGV Vehicles
 Navigation is a field of study that focuses on the process of
monitoring and controlling the movement of a craft or vehicle
from one place to another.
 The field of navigation includes four general categories: land
navigation, marine navigation, aeronautic navigation, and space
navigation.
 It is also the term of art used for the specialized knowledge used
by navigators to perform navigation tasks.
 All navigational techniques involve locating the navigator's
position compared to known locations or patterns.
 Navigation, in a broader sense, can refer to any skill or study
that involves the determination of position and direction.
 In this sense, navigation includes orienteering and pedestrian
navigation.

 Laser scanners that emit a laser and reflect back from
the targets. LGV uses the accuracy and non
divergency of the laser to accurately locate the

to move.
