Media Questionnaire Results
1. The first question we asked was to show the age range we were aiming the film at. This could have been slightly biased due to the group not thinking that the thriller should be aimed at anyone below 15. Also the handing out of the questionnaires was not random, we handed them out to our age range. Therefore the age range which is highest is due to audience the group thought the film would be best for. 1
2. What genre do you think the film trailer, poster and magazine cover represent? This question we added as we found that for each of these it was important to represent the genre, as the audience would then have an idea of film they would be seeing. This also helps to make sure that the advertisement is not misleading or untruthful. As shown in the graph the highest amount of the audience believed the film trailer, poster and magazine cover to be aimed at thrillers. As our genre is a thriller we are pleased with this result. Also because the other five choose horror; which can often be confused with thriller, due to their common nature of darkness. 2

This also shows the group that we had gathered the right understanding of age classification. 3
4. In the film trailer, do you feel the title of the film is shown clearly? This question was asked because as we looked at our deconstructions and looked at different film trailers, even if the genre was different the title was still clearly presented. We were happy to see that the majority of people thought we had shown the title clearly. 4

This was something we wanted to convey in the trailer as we found it helped to create suspense which added to the thriller genre. 6
7. Do you feel the trailer needs more titles? We asked this question because when researching other film trailers we found that some had quite a few titles. However as a group we decided not to include that many, as we didn’t want to give too much away, which we found other trailers doing. We wanted to know if this was a good decision; which shown through the graph the amount of titles seemed just right for the majority. 7
8. What do you think of the length of the trailer? One of the worries as a group was that our trailer was too short. Therefore we left this question open, to gain an insight into how we could improve. Also we did some research into the different lengths of trailers, and found that TV trailers were often shorter than theatrical ones. The results show that the audience thought it needed lengthening if we wanted to use it as a theatrical trailer. 8
9. From looking at all three aspects of promotion for this film, do you have a sense of the film’s plot? This was important to ask as the three promotional devices are used to give the audience and insight into the film they are about to watch. Therefore they create an image of what the film is about and what it includes. This is so that the audience can then go on to make their judgement on whether to watch the film or not. From our results the majority said that they could gain an insight into the plot of the film. This shows that the group has made quite a successful trailer. 9
10. Do you think the magazine cover, trailer and poster work together well in promoting the film? Our highest result was the main picture; this could be because it is the main viewpoint and focus of the magazine cover. We had one result that said they would not buy the magazine so we asked the respondent to elaborate. The answer was because it did not have enough information on it and seemed to be more aimed at one gender rather than another. This information was helpful as it helped us pick out some of our faults and allows us to understand where we can improve. 12
13. Would the film poster and magazine cover alone influence you to go and watch this film?
