My first ideas for German phonics to teach with secondary students. Any comments on the choice of words? Any better ideas? I am not sure that the words match the actions. I would like to just teach the phoneme on its own with no words to link but many secondary colleagues feel it's the best way.

make finger and thumb into a circle shape and bring up to eye “ei, ei”!

grimacing smiling face and 1 hand to top of throat. This will indicate shape of mouth to get the right sound and hand on throat indicates that the sound is made at the back of the throat.
