The 1979 rock opera was not a reference to a physical structure as such, but in turn a
testimonial to a jaded rockstar’s self-imposed isolation from society – neatly symbolised as
the name (and theme) of the album.
1990 saw a live performance for charity of the said album on the site of the remains of a
politically relevant structure, an ode to the literal imagery that most of the fans thought the
album to be.
What was the 1990 venue?
In 2017, being one of the harshest vocal critics of an icon(oclast) of the times, the primary
songwriter of the band also revealed plans to rehash the 1990 concert on the location of yet
another proposed political landmark, however that plan never saw the light of day.
What was the proposed 21st century venue?
Answer follows
The Berlin Wall; The proposed Mexico-USA Wall

Some bands which may be described using this phrase include A-ha, The Knack, Deep
Blue Something, and The Buggles.
The story of one such fictional band told in a 1990s movie involves a successful talent
show performance after the original drummer is replaced because of injury, a record
next, a deal with a record label, a tour, and a premature falling out - before the group can
(start to) live out its potential.
The name of the band is a nice touch, fitting in well with the story and the phrase (it's a
reduction of it, really). A mispronunciation leads to a spelling change. Give
1) the band's original or later name
2) the phrase in question
Answer follows
The Oneders/ Wonders; One hit wonders
3
The bird pictured first appeared in print in 1966, however was
given an official name by the creator only in 1970 – inspired
from an event that began with an invocation by a spiritual
leader of the times.
Name either the series, one that helped cement the four panel
gag strip as the standard in the United States, or the creator of
the series.
The spiritual leader in question found a following in many
people in America during his visits, including several musicians.
An indelible mark was left when a certain Alice, named her
album after him.
Identify the guru.
Answer follows
Woodstock (from Peanuts) by Charles Schulz; A Journey in
Satchidananda by Alice Coltrane

Most Indians who remember this Italian American's music videos and concerts in
the 1990s would remember being curious about a familiar adornment that she
regularly donned. Songs that would give you a clue to the story could be.... a voice
tells me don’t speak, it’s cool.
The story goes, she dated a fellow band member in the 1990s and was in awe of
his mother who would dress up beautifully complete with this final touch. And
what’s more, she was generous enough to give her many, many of those. And so,
she ran with it.
What are we talking about? For no points, also identify the musician.
Answer follows
Gwen Stefani's Bindis

Julio once served as the goalkeeper at a Segunda Division Spanish side. However, a
horrific 1963 accident and successive rehabilitation period, helped him change track.
His son picked up on these genes and furthered the family name in music later on.
However the sport connect with the family did not stop there – the son went on to
meet his future wife, a legendary sportsperson who retired prematurely on the sets of
a music video (Images Follow) and the couple are on the verge of completing two
decades together.
Who is Julio’s daughter in law?
Julio’s rendition of the immortal French standard “La Mer” (Audio follows) was set to
the ending montage of which critically acclaimed Cold War era film?
Julio’s son and daughter-in-law Julio and his (more) famous son
Answer follows
Anna Kournikova; Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

One imagines sensitivity around gender and stereotypes was
not a serious issue in India in the 1990s or not taken
seriously enough anyway.
That would explain one of the main characters (and his
name) in a 1990s Hindi sitcom - an effeminate, stay-at-home
husband who fancies his neighbor's wife. His name has
Persian origins and is used commonly in Hindi.
What is this name, which is shared by an instrument that a
warrior-saint introduced so it could be carried on
horseback?
Answer follows
Dilruba
• The sitcom is Shreeman Shrimati
• The instrument was a lighter version of Taus, introduced by Guru
Gobind Singh

Rossini’s famous overture has been a darling of popular culture – used to bizarre
and dramatic effect in a 1971 dystopian crime thriller, as well as one of the cleanest
21st century heists – where the Crown Jewels falls into the hands of the OG
Professor of Crime. The piece, featuring a titular aves, was the focal point of the
21st edition of a set of 24 volumes, published originally between 1929 and 1986.
Identify the edition, featuring in its title an animated crooner who has her own way
with words.
Another song, a go to song of the aforementioned crooner first featured in a 5 act
opera by Goethe, where the soprano plays a young maiden, who is the love interest
of the titular character. She receives a decorated box containing among other
valuable items, and a hand mirror, and at this moment rejoices with the said song.
What is the one word title of the play?
Answer follows
(The Thieving Magpie in) Castafiore Emerald; “Jewel Song” from
Faust

Art connoisseurs would've expected to see different imagery on the cover of this
album by a British band.
As it turns out, the expectation wouldn't have been unreasonable and the band
was actually inspired by this artist, who their lead singer thought "went through a
lot of shit... and then... she started a big painting... that said ____ __ ____."
What trumped a generous serving of fruit was directions from a bare-breasted
woman. Points for naming the expected imagery/ the final choice for the album
cover.
Answer follows
Viva La Vida (Frida Kahlo)/ Liberty Leading the People
(Eugene Delacroix)

• The song that you will be hearing is based on a certain kind of
rhythmic poetry practiced in Kerala.
• When classically performed the tempo is maintained in a song,
but practically it is changed based on requirement. Many
musicians like Agam pay tribute to this by increasing the tempo
through out the song ending in an flourish.
• What practical use do such songs have?
Answer follows
The Vanchipattu or the Boat Song helps the rowers
keep rhythm during the famous Boat Races of
Kerala

Cockney accents can be funny. Cockney jokes – I'll let you decide. Here's one
Man 1: My wife is leaving me.
Man 2: Jamaica?
Man 1: No, she is going on her own accord?
Don't be ashamed if you didn't get it – the highlighted response is actually
intended to sound like a different question with more words, that spoken really
quickly sounds like Jamaica.
What are these words, that also find allusion in the title of a song with reggae
beats which are quite uncharacteristic of the band?
Answer follows
Did you make her? / D'yer Mak'er

This genre of music first emerged onto the scene in the African American
community in the late 1920s with inspirations in ragtime and blues, also featuring
in a famous children’s rhyme, though it gained traction closer home later on.
Which 90s reality show was named after this genre, which made a comeback to
the small screen with a kids edition in 2013/2014?
When a certain Dutch neo-plasticism artiste landed on the shores of Manhattan –
he described the layout of the city as a complex lattice of red, blue, and yellow
lines – thus naming one of his most celebrated works so.
Which artist or what creation was named thus?
Answer follows
Boogie Woogie; Piet Mondrian’s Broadway Boogie Woogie
12
When the artist, prolific with album covers, got signed for this 1997 album he just had a
word – its title to run with. The word, which has Biblical origins, has a derogatory usage
now.
The artist wanted to show middle-aged corporate-looking men with their faces masked
with album name to take away their identity.
Though the two gentlemen he eventually chose are not easily identifiable, the choice is
rather unfortunate - their noble contributions to humanity having been anything but
average. An iconic image of one miracle their work achieved on a winter morning in
Toronto in the 1920s is on the next slide, along with the album cover.
Which two gentlemen? What was their contribution?
Answer follows
Sir Fredrick Banting, Charles Best; Insulin
• Banting won the Nobel Prize along with John Macleod
• However, he shared the honours and money with his colleague, Best
• The album is Nimrod by Green Day
• As for the morning at the Toronto hospital
"The scientists went from bed to bed and injected the children with the new purified
extract - insulin. As they began to inject the last comatose child, the first child injected
began to awaken. One by one, all of the children awoke from their diabetic comas. A room
of death and gloom, became a place of joy and hope."

It was originally created for a 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical titled “Carousel”.
The more famous version came about in 1963, when the band’s frontman Gerry Marsden
handed over a copy to a famous Scotsman plying his trade on the Western coast of
England.
Name this piece, which is back in vogue due to the message of solidarity that it brings.
On similar lines, if the interior of the entity, pristine with all its curves and bends, record
collections and memorabilia, looks like the images on the next slide, where would you be
at?
You’ll never Walk Alone by Gerry and the
Pacemakers; Yellow Submarine Hotel

An Oscar-nominated coming-of-age movie is about a boy who experiences his
first love, patriotism, tragedy, and heartbreak accompanied by an imaginary
friend.
It starts off with a montage of images of a former artist, cartoonist and runner,
and his many followers. The recurring image of their support plays against a
song, which was recorded in a studio in Paris to achieve additional record sales
for an English band away from their homeland.
What was this image? Looking for a proper noun in the answer.
Answer follows
The Nazi Salute (Komm, gib mir deine Hand/ I
want to hold your hand)

usage of just one Urdu word – “ka”.
• What piece was this, which is more than music to the ears of 200 million
odd people of the world?
• An entity recently got together a motley crew of around 40 artists to
collaborate on this piece in order to celebrate a platinum jubilee.
• What entity, the brainchild of marketing genius Nadeem Zaman, that

The second in a trilogy, it is preceded by an opera about a violinist who rocked the no-sock rule
and followed by one on a famous ruler who took his nation away from polytheistic religion to
the worship of the sun god.
Interestingly, the opera doesn't have any dialogues apart from libretto – only passages from the
Bhagavad Gita. The first two acts are named for thinkers who the subject revered as influences
and the final one is named after an African-American activist who he inspired.
Who is the subject of this opera?
What compound word coined by his relative for a newspaper competition is the title?
Answer follows
Mahatma Gandhi, Satyagraha (Philip Glass)
• Satyagraha is second in the Portraits
trilogy, preceded by Einstein on the Beach
and followed by Akhnaten
• The three acts are titled Leo Tolstoy,
Rabindranath Tagore, MLK Jr. who appear
in the background throughout
representing the past, present, and future
of Satyagraha
• The word Satyagraha was coined by the
Mahatma's relative Maganlal Gandhi after
a competition in the newssheet which the
former had started in South Africa, called
the Indian Opinion

Blur’s 6th album opened with the track you’ll listen to – the first few lines directly taken
from the fourth and final novel of a literary giant – whose greatest work just preceded this
1934 novel. The 1934 work, though not autobiographical has several parallels to the lives
of the author and his wife (also an author in her own right) – where both lead characters
are pulled out of and put back into mental care, with the male lead descending into
alcoholism.
The name of the novel, which also features in the lyric, is in turn taken from the longest of
6 compositions penned in 1819. The titular being in the composition in question was
purportedly a resident of the plum tree located inside the Wentworth place grounds,
wherein the composer spent his days, and which now serves as his museum.
Identify the author of the 1934 novel.
Name the 1819 composition.
Answer follows
F Scott Fitzgerald; Ode to a Nightingale

While this disorder has been observed to be highly heritable, societal expectations and the
effect of media have been attributed as reasons for its rise since the middle of the last century.
Many suggest sexual abuse suffered during childhood can cause low self-esteem, depression
and eventually lead to this disorder.
Though it has a two-word name, it is commonly known by the first of these. The premature
death of a musician in the 1980s and its media coverage ensured greater awareness.
What are we talking about? The following slide has images from a music video that was featured
in an awareness campaign for this.
Answer follows
Anorexia / Anorexia nervosa (Karen Carpenter is the musician
whose death led to greater awareness around it)

• Folk historians have noted parallels to this contemporary release with Phil
Ochs’ 1966 song “Crucifixion”, with portrayals of the same person in both
songs as a “sacrificial lamb of sorts”.
• Who was the common subject?
• The Guardian says that the 17 minute ballad which lacks a standard
structure, could also be taken to be a song filled with personal remorse, as
the songwriter’s initial apathy 57 years ago, was widely noted and criticised,
something that has clearly been bugging the songwriter since. This had also
come up almost a decade ago in a 2012 exhibition of the songwriter’s
paintings – which featured a certain man (Image Follows), who shot to fame
in a moment of madness, claiming that his great grief over a certain murder
had caused him to suffer a “psychomotor epilepsy”

Symphonies among several other feathers in his cap. While audiences experience serenity, they
often fail to see the sweat men and women like Dworkin break producing such performances.
Even after retirement, Mr. Dworkin couldn't keep away from his art and decided to combine it
with a fitness routine. He believes he gives his students a unique experience bringing together a
workout, a musical performance, and a lesson in the history of music. The sessions expectedly

concur that accessing this has becoming more dangerous since a 2011 ascension.
One of the interviewees suggested that the alternative for her growing up was drab, lacking any
emotions in contrast to the lively and passionate Girl's Generation and T-Ara. Of course, not

Not a Music Quiz | May 2020

  • 1. Not a Music Quiz Quizzing Fraternity of XLRI Ritwik Ghosh & Sahil Gupta May 2020
  • 2. • 30 Questions (25 on bounce/pounce, 5 in a written round) • Reverse direction for Bounce after the written round • Look out for hints which are highlighted in red • The answers required are underlined A music quiz with answers from everywhere but music (for the most part)
  • 3. 0 The critically acclaimed soundtrack of this 2005 movie has 12 tracks, each named rather curiously. 05. Artibeus 06. Tadarida 07. Macrotus 08. Antrozous 01. Vespertilio 02. Eptescius 03. Myotis 04. Barbastella 09. Nycteris 10. Molossus 11. Corynorhinus 12. Lasiurus Why this unusual choice for names? Further, why this particular sequencing (from the perspective of the track titles)?
  • 5. Each is a species of bats; the first letters of tracks 4 to 9 spell out Batman
  • 6. Infinite Bounce - I • 13 questions • +10 on the direct • +10/-5 on pounce
  • 7. 1 The 1979 rock opera was not a reference to a physical structure as such, but in turn a testimonial to a jaded rockstar’s self-imposed isolation from society – neatly symbolised as the name (and theme) of the album. 1990 saw a live performance for charity of the said album on the site of the remains of a politically relevant structure, an ode to the literal imagery that most of the fans thought the album to be. What was the 1990 venue? In 2017, being one of the harshest vocal critics of an icon(oclast) of the times, the primary songwriter of the band also revealed plans to rehash the 1990 concert on the location of yet another proposed political landmark, however that plan never saw the light of day. What was the proposed 21st century venue?
  • 9. The Berlin Wall; The proposed Mexico-USA Wall
  • 10. 2 Some bands which may be described using this phrase include A-ha, The Knack, Deep Blue Something, and The Buggles. The story of one such fictional band told in a 1990s movie involves a successful talent show performance after the original drummer is replaced because of injury, a record next, a deal with a record label, a tour, and a premature falling out - before the group can (start to) live out its potential. The name of the band is a nice touch, fitting in well with the story and the phrase (it's a reduction of it, really). A mispronunciation leads to a spelling change. Give 1) the band's original or later name 2) the phrase in question
  • 12. The Oneders/ Wonders; One hit wonders
  • 13. 3 The bird pictured first appeared in print in 1966, however was given an official name by the creator only in 1970 – inspired from an event that began with an invocation by a spiritual leader of the times. Name either the series, one that helped cement the four panel gag strip as the standard in the United States, or the creator of the series. The spiritual leader in question found a following in many people in America during his visits, including several musicians. An indelible mark was left when a certain Alice, named her album after him. Identify the guru.
  • 15. Woodstock (from Peanuts) by Charles Schulz; A Journey in Satchidananda by Alice Coltrane
  • 16. 4 Most Indians who remember this Italian American's music videos and concerts in the 1990s would remember being curious about a familiar adornment that she regularly donned. Songs that would give you a clue to the story could be.... a voice tells me don’t speak, it’s cool. The story goes, she dated a fellow band member in the 1990s and was in awe of his mother who would dress up beautifully complete with this final touch. And what’s more, she was generous enough to give her many, many of those. And so, she ran with it. What are we talking about? For no points, also identify the musician.
  • 19. 5 Julio once served as the goalkeeper at a Segunda Division Spanish side. However, a horrific 1963 accident and successive rehabilitation period, helped him change track. His son picked up on these genes and furthered the family name in music later on. However the sport connect with the family did not stop there – the son went on to meet his future wife, a legendary sportsperson who retired prematurely on the sets of a music video (Images Follow) and the couple are on the verge of completing two decades together. Who is Julio’s daughter in law? Julio’s rendition of the immortal French standard “La Mer” (Audio follows) was set to the ending montage of which critically acclaimed Cold War era film?
  • 20. Julio’s son and daughter-in-law Julio and his (more) famous son
  • 22. Anna Kournikova; Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
  • 23. 6 One imagines sensitivity around gender and stereotypes was not a serious issue in India in the 1990s or not taken seriously enough anyway. That would explain one of the main characters (and his name) in a 1990s Hindi sitcom - an effeminate, stay-at-home husband who fancies his neighbor's wife. His name has Persian origins and is used commonly in Hindi. What is this name, which is shared by an instrument that a warrior-saint introduced so it could be carried on horseback?
  • 25. Dilruba • The sitcom is Shreeman Shrimati • The instrument was a lighter version of Taus, introduced by Guru Gobind Singh
  • 26. 7 Rossini’s famous overture has been a darling of popular culture – used to bizarre and dramatic effect in a 1971 dystopian crime thriller, as well as one of the cleanest 21st century heists – where the Crown Jewels falls into the hands of the OG Professor of Crime. The piece, featuring a titular aves, was the focal point of the 21st edition of a set of 24 volumes, published originally between 1929 and 1986. Identify the edition, featuring in its title an animated crooner who has her own way with words. Another song, a go to song of the aforementioned crooner first featured in a 5 act opera by Goethe, where the soprano plays a young maiden, who is the love interest of the titular character. She receives a decorated box containing among other valuable items, and a hand mirror, and at this moment rejoices with the said song. What is the one word title of the play?
  • 28. (The Thieving Magpie in) Castafiore Emerald; “Jewel Song” from Faust
  • 29. 8 Art connoisseurs would've expected to see different imagery on the cover of this album by a British band. As it turns out, the expectation wouldn't have been unreasonable and the band was actually inspired by this artist, who their lead singer thought "went through a lot of shit... and then... she started a big painting... that said ____ __ ____." What trumped a generous serving of fruit was directions from a bare-breasted woman. Points for naming the expected imagery/ the final choice for the album cover.
  • 31. Viva La Vida (Frida Kahlo)/ Liberty Leading the People (Eugene Delacroix)
  • 32. 9 • The song that you will be hearing is based on a certain kind of rhythmic poetry practiced in Kerala. • When classically performed the tempo is maintained in a song, but practically it is changed based on requirement. Many musicians like Agam pay tribute to this by increasing the tempo through out the song ending in an flourish. • What practical use do such songs have?
  • 34. The Vanchipattu or the Boat Song helps the rowers keep rhythm during the famous Boat Races of Kerala
  • 35. 10 Cockney accents can be funny. Cockney jokes – I'll let you decide. Here's one Man 1: My wife is leaving me. Man 2: Jamaica? Man 1: No, she is going on her own accord? Don't be ashamed if you didn't get it – the highlighted response is actually intended to sound like a different question with more words, that spoken really quickly sounds like Jamaica. What are these words, that also find allusion in the title of a song with reggae beats which are quite uncharacteristic of the band?
  • 37. Did you make her? / D'yer Mak'er
  • 38. 11 This genre of music first emerged onto the scene in the African American community in the late 1920s with inspirations in ragtime and blues, also featuring in a famous children’s rhyme, though it gained traction closer home later on. Which 90s reality show was named after this genre, which made a comeback to the small screen with a kids edition in 2013/2014? When a certain Dutch neo-plasticism artiste landed on the shores of Manhattan – he described the layout of the city as a complex lattice of red, blue, and yellow lines – thus naming one of his most celebrated works so. Which artist or what creation was named thus?
  • 40. Boogie Woogie; Piet Mondrian’s Broadway Boogie Woogie
  • 41. 12 When the artist, prolific with album covers, got signed for this 1997 album he just had a word – its title to run with. The word, which has Biblical origins, has a derogatory usage now. The artist wanted to show middle-aged corporate-looking men with their faces masked with album name to take away their identity. Though the two gentlemen he eventually chose are not easily identifiable, the choice is rather unfortunate - their noble contributions to humanity having been anything but average. An iconic image of one miracle their work achieved on a winter morning in Toronto in the 1920s is on the next slide, along with the album cover. Which two gentlemen? What was their contribution?
  • 42.
  • 44. Sir Fredrick Banting, Charles Best; Insulin • Banting won the Nobel Prize along with John Macleod • However, he shared the honours and money with his colleague, Best • The album is Nimrod by Green Day • As for the morning at the Toronto hospital "The scientists went from bed to bed and injected the children with the new purified extract - insulin. As they began to inject the last comatose child, the first child injected began to awaken. One by one, all of the children awoke from their diabetic comas. A room of death and gloom, became a place of joy and hope."
  • 45. 13 It was originally created for a 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical titled “Carousel”. The more famous version came about in 1963, when the band’s frontman Gerry Marsden handed over a copy to a famous Scotsman plying his trade on the Western coast of England. Name this piece, which is back in vogue due to the message of solidarity that it brings. On similar lines, if the interior of the entity, pristine with all its curves and bends, record collections and memorabilia, looks like the images on the next slide, where would you be at?
  • 46.
  • 47. You’ll never Walk Alone by Gerry and the Pacemakers; Yellow Submarine Hotel

  • 52. Infinite Bounce - II • 12 questions • +10 on the direct • +10/-5 on pounce • Anticlockwise
  • 53. 14 An Oscar-nominated coming-of-age movie is about a boy who experiences his first love, patriotism, tragedy, and heartbreak accompanied by an imaginary friend. It starts off with a montage of images of a former artist, cartoonist and runner, and his many followers. The recurring image of their support plays against a song, which was recorded in a studio in Paris to achieve additional record sales for an English band away from their homeland. What was this image? Looking for a proper noun in the answer.
  • 55. The Nazi Salute (Komm, gib mir deine Hand/ I want to hold your hand)
  • 56. 15 • The piece was composed in 1949, three years before words were added to add flesh to the bones. According to the composer, a Trinity College of Music graduate, twenty-one musical instruments and thirty-eight different tones are required to pull off a perfect rendition of this piece, notable in its usage of just one Urdu word – “ka”. • What piece was this, which is more than music to the ears of 200 million odd people of the world? • An entity recently got together a motley crew of around 40 artists to collaborate on this piece in order to celebrate a platinum jubilee. • What entity, the brainchild of marketing genius Nadeem Zaman, that started in 2008, and had further editions in the subcontinent? (Need 3 words, including two proper nouns in the answer)
  • 57.
  • 58. Qaumi Taranah (The Pakistan national anthem); Coke Studio Pakistan
  • 59. 16 The second in a trilogy, it is preceded by an opera about a violinist who rocked the no-sock rule and followed by one on a famous ruler who took his nation away from polytheistic religion to the worship of the sun god. Interestingly, the opera doesn't have any dialogues apart from libretto – only passages from the Bhagavad Gita. The first two acts are named for thinkers who the subject revered as influences and the final one is named after an African-American activist who he inspired. Who is the subject of this opera? What compound word coined by his relative for a newspaper competition is the title?
  • 61. Mahatma Gandhi, Satyagraha (Philip Glass) • Satyagraha is second in the Portraits trilogy, preceded by Einstein on the Beach and followed by Akhnaten • The three acts are titled Leo Tolstoy, Rabindranath Tagore, MLK Jr. who appear in the background throughout representing the past, present, and future of Satyagraha • The word Satyagraha was coined by the Mahatma's relative Maganlal Gandhi after a competition in the newssheet which the former had started in South Africa, called the Indian Opinion
  • 62. 17 Blur’s 6th album opened with the track you’ll listen to – the first few lines directly taken from the fourth and final novel of a literary giant – whose greatest work just preceded this 1934 novel. The 1934 work, though not autobiographical has several parallels to the lives of the author and his wife (also an author in her own right) – where both lead characters are pulled out of and put back into mental care, with the male lead descending into alcoholism. The name of the novel, which also features in the lyric, is in turn taken from the longest of 6 compositions penned in 1819. The titular being in the composition in question was purportedly a resident of the plum tree located inside the Wentworth place grounds, wherein the composer spent his days, and which now serves as his museum. Identify the author of the 1934 novel. Name the 1819 composition.
  • 64. F Scott Fitzgerald; Ode to a Nightingale
  • 65. 18 While this disorder has been observed to be highly heritable, societal expectations and the effect of media have been attributed as reasons for its rise since the middle of the last century. Many suggest sexual abuse suffered during childhood can cause low self-esteem, depression and eventually lead to this disorder. Though it has a two-word name, it is commonly known by the first of these. The premature death of a musician in the 1980s and its media coverage ensured greater awareness. What are we talking about? The following slide has images from a music video that was featured in an awareness campaign for this.
  • 66.
  • 68. Anorexia / Anorexia nervosa (Karen Carpenter is the musician whose death led to greater awareness around it)
  • 69. 19 • The aesthetic imagery of this Kolkata based electropop duo’s works were likened to which famous director from the West, who also graced the initial uproar with his validation through an email. • Which multiple Oscar nominated director? (Images follow) • They signed up with a London based record label to produce two full length studio albums – the second of which is named after an establishment from the city they hail – the largest of its kind in the subcontinent, and managed by the National Council of Science Museums. • What was the two word name of their second album?
  • 70.
  • 73. 20 A. Who is this inventor who revolutionized agriculture, by perfecting an equine setup used in sowing seasons? B. Identify this French company which prides itself as the first to "cut the cord" and pioneer SCUBA diving. For the two word answer, think of the Latin for where such products would be used and their purpose. C. What is the basis of ranking these stars as seen above? A missing element from the list would outrank all of these, thus ensuring a three word comparative phrase can only be an exaggeration on Planet Earth
  • 76. Jethro Tull, Aqua Lung, Brightness/ Brighter Than Sunshine Aqualung is a song by British band Jethro Tull. Further, Brighter Than Sunshine is a song by musician Matt Hales whose stage name is Aqualung.
  • 77. 21 • Folk historians have noted parallels to this contemporary release with Phil Ochs’ 1966 song “Crucifixion”, with portrayals of the same person in both songs as a “sacrificial lamb of sorts”. • Who was the common subject? • The Guardian says that the 17 minute ballad which lacks a standard structure, could also be taken to be a song filled with personal remorse, as the songwriter’s initial apathy 57 years ago, was widely noted and criticised, something that has clearly been bugging the songwriter since. This had also come up almost a decade ago in a 2012 exhibition of the songwriter’s paintings – which featured a certain man (Image Follows), who shot to fame in a moment of madness, claiming that his great grief over a certain murder had caused him to suffer a “psychomotor epilepsy”
  • 78.
  • 80. Dylan’s 2020 release – “Murder Most Foul” on the assassination of John F. Kennedy; Jack Ruby, featured in the image was Lee Harvey Oswald’s killer
  • 81. 22 A certain Mr. Dworkin retired after successful stints with the New Jersey and Vermont Symphonies among several other feathers in his cap. While audiences experience serenity, they often fail to see the sweat men and women like Dworkin break producing such performances. Even after retirement, Mr. Dworkin couldn't keep away from his art and decided to combine it with a fitness routine. He believes he gives his students a unique experience bringing together a workout, a musical performance, and a lesson in the history of music. The sessions expectedly focus on the upper body. What portmanteau is the name of this fitness program? Alternatively, what profession specifically did Mr. Dworkin retire from?
  • 83. Conductorcise = Conductor + Exercise 71 70 70 45 Conductors Cellists Violinists Rock musicians A study found conductors live the longest among musicians
