Aims at delivering innovative digital services
supporting building energy efficiency measures:
• Building Energy Performance Assessment: automatic
large-scale assessment of residential heating needs.
• Building Energy Consumption Optimization: access to real-
time consumption data and weather forecasts.
• Public Lighting Energy Management: remote monitoring
and control of illumination systems.

Sensor Data Management service
Aim is empowering building energy managers
with knowledge about building energy behaviour:
• providing highly detailed past consumption profiles and
indoor temperature, if available, and weather obs.
• visualizing correlations consumption / weather variables.
• visualizing detailed weather forecasts for 3 days in advance.
Different data flows ingested into the same Sensor DB,
data managed and made available to further processing
and visualization via common protocols and
procedures.

• Gather all data coming from meters/sensors.

Data flows
• Consumption data from meters gathered via:
• Simple FTP (File Transfer Protocol) transfer of CSV
(Comma Separated Values) files
• Feed from GreenButton standard protocol web service
• Indoor temperature readings are channelled
through the GreenButton web service
• Weather data is retrieved from a dedicated
OGC Web Feature Service web protocol

Conclusions
The service:
• manages the inbound flow of different dynamical data
• guarantees the storage of all of them in a single DB
structure - the Sensor DB based on OGC SOS protocol -
• and their publication via a single interoperable service.
Showcase use in building energy management:
• energy consumption analysis for two of the project’s pilot
buildings in Ferrara, IT.
• performed on long high-frequency data series provided by
the Sensor Data Management service
