in the transition countries?
Gender equality relatively advanced in the region
already before 1990
…at least officially
…and, at least in some areas, also true in practice
But transition has had clear gender dimensions
(in different dimensions across different countries)

data is still missing in many important areas…
• Great need for more information and data in
many dimension and especially in some countries
• Also important to create collaborations so as to
make data comparable
• Very important to exchange ideas collaborate to
understand BOTH individual country experiences
and common trends
