Seminar on Policy monitoring, reporting and evaluation
In orderto enable the Governmenttoplanand execute well-definedpolicies it is essential to ensure that a
well-structured and comprehensively established policy development cycle is in place. According to the
logic of the policy development cycle, the Government needs to have a good, evidence -based
understanding of the policy issues it wants to address, as well as tools to constantly monitor the
implementationof the designedandapprovedpoliciesthatallowstakingthe rightand timely management
decisions ensuring that the envisaged policy objectives can be achieved.
The logic of the policy development cycle:
This 1.5 days seminar is focusing on the monitoring, reporting and evaluation aspects of the policy
development cycle.
Duringthe course of the seminarparticipantswill be introducedtothe general concepts of monitoring and
reporting,some specificaspectsandtechnicalities of good monitoring and report development, as well as
good international practices on these aspects. The seminar will also address policy evaluation, its basic
concepts and some examples of international examples.
The participants of this working meeting are civil servants of the Prime Ministry. The language of the
seminar is English with simultaneous interpretation.
The seminarwill be facilitatedbyMr.PeterVagi,OECD/SIGMA SeniorAdviser- Policydevelopment and Co-
