Small-scale farmers in sub-Saharan Africa achieve less than 30% of potential yields due to deficiencies in technology, capital markets, infrastructure, and property rights. Improving small holder agriculture productivity is a high development priority, especially in Africa. For small-scale farmers to benefit from development, gaps must be addressed in factors influencing their low productivity.
