Because monoculture is just as bad as monopoly
It is nowadays common place to find OSS licensed software and components for anything related to infrastructure or middleware. But the monoculture brought by massive marketing investments of a few vendors is creating the trap of monoculture in many areas of IT. We therefore have to be mindful of not just using FOSS but ensuring we help foster rich and diverse ecosystems. In the end, the monoculture trap is probably just as bad a form of vendor lock-in as proprietary software.

- Enterprise adoption should be more about resilience
and performance – and less about social compliance
- Innovative solutions should be given the opportunity
of proper market adoption.
