4. EARLY YEARS
• Born on Feb 24,1955 in San Franciso, California.
• Biological Parents- Joanne Simpson & Abdulfatta Jandali
• Parents- Paul & Clara Jobs
• Upon graduation from high school in 1972, was enrolled in Reed
College in Portland but dropped out.
• In 1974 with his friend Stephen Woznaik developed a PC named
as APPLE I.
5. • In 1983, he developed the Lisa which had GUI in Xerox’s
Palo Alto Research Center.
• In April 1983, in place of Marakkula, Job appointed Sculley,
former president of PepsiCo. Inc., as Apple CEO.
• On Jan 3,1977 with the help of Marakkula & other
venture capitalists APPLE Inc., was incorporated.
• APPLE III was introduced in 1981 but was
discontinued in 1984.
• Scott was replaced by Marakkula & Jobs was
named as chairman of APPLE.
6. • After failure of Lisa, Jobs concentrated on developing a
cheaper machine with different OS. The result was
Apple Macintosh.
• The Board of Directors were unhappy since he devoted
all the time and resources for developing MAC.
• Between 1983 & 1984 Apple’s net income fell by 17%.

• He was dismissed as Vice President in May 1985.

• In September 1985, along with former Apple executives
founded a new company NeXT computers.
• But NeXT again remained a loss making company.
• In 1986, Jobs acquired computer graphic division of
Lucasfilm Ltd for US$10 million and named it Pixar.
• In 2006, Pixar was acquired by Walt Disney Co.
• Meanwhile apple was losing its hold in the market.
• The process of changing CEO’S continued.
• This marked re-entry of Jobs into Apple as an informal
advisor.

• In Aug.1998 launched I MAC of price1299$.
• In Jan.1999 releases new Powermac G3 and iBook in
July, records profit of $601 million up from $301 million

products such as the ITUNES, in Jan &the MAC OS X(march).

Alan Deutchman in his book “change or Die, The second coming of

• In Aug 2004, he was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer.
• Addressing the Macworld Expo on Jan 9,2007,Jobs announced that
Apple would from that point of time be called Apple Inc.
• In Jan 2009, Jobs took medical leave for liver transplantation.
• In April 2010, apple sold 51million iphones.
• In May 2010 apple overtook Microsoft to become world’s most
valuable technology company in terms of market capitalization.
