After Shampooing, its important to use hair conditioners to give increased manageability to our hair, leaving it soft & shiny .
Conditioning is needed especially for dry, brittle hair and after dandruff treatment.
Fairness cream gives fairness with an even tone, while cleansing dark spots, discoloured and pigmented skin.
The fairness cream is supposed not only to import fairness, but also remove blemishes from the skin.
Its natural action involves reduction of the black melanin in the skin without changing the skin’s natural balance.
2. CONDITIONER

After Shampooing, its important to use hair conditioners to
give increased manageability to our hair, leaving it soft &
shiny .
Conditioning is needed especially for dry, brittle hair and
after dandruff treatment.
The first foremost purpose of conditioner is to moisturise
the hair.
In home made hair conditioner, ingredients like avocado
and olive oil act as humectant.

3. PROPERTIES
• Smooth, easy combing in both wet and dry hair.
• A reduction in static electricity caused by combing and brushing dry hair.
• The enhancement of the gloss or lusture of hair.
• Reduces the chances of colour fading in hair.
• Reduce hair frizz.
• Prevent damage and breakage.
• Helps in moisture retention.
For people with oily hair a sample homemade hair conditioner made with
vinegar and a couple of herbs will leaves hair shiny.
Adding aromatic herbs such as rosemary or ground cloves will provide a
simple but pleasant scent that will work well with different types of

4. FORMULATIONS
1. Jojoba Conditioner
Rose water : 1 cup
Jojoba oil : 1 table spoon
Vitamin E oil :10 drops
Preparation
• Take rose water and add jojoba oil.
• Pour the mixture into a blender and add Vit. E oil.
• Blend at high speed for 2 min.
2. Avocado Conditioner
Avocado : 1 fruit
Coconut milk : 1 cup
Preparation
• Smash avocado thoroughly and then slowly mix with the milk and stir
until resembles a thick conditioner like mixture.

5. • Cover the hair with the mixture and leave for 15 min.
• Then rinse completely and rinse with the shampoo.
3. Amla Conditioner
Amla pieces : 5
Water : 2 cups
Preparations
• Soak dry amla pieces in water and leave for overnight.
• Use this water for the last rinse after we have washed our hair
• Nourishes and condition hair like no other preparation can.

7. MATERIALS AND METHODS
Preparation of extract
• Air dried and coarsely powdered 500g of Glycyrrhiza glabra root were
placed in Soxhlet extractor separately using petroleum ether and then
successively with ethanol.
• The extracts were then concentrated to dryness under reduced pressure and
controlled temperature, respectively and they were preserved in a
refrigerator.

9. EXAMPLES OF HERBAL FAIRNESS CREAM
1. Fair and Lovely Ayurvedic Care

12. EVALUATION OF CREAM
pH of the cream Cream was dissolved in distilled water. It’s pH was measured
using pH meter.
Viscosity Determined by using Brookfield Viscometer.
Dye test The scarlet red dye is mixed with the cream. Place a drop of the
cream on a microscopic slide, cover it with a cover slip and
examine it under a microscope. If the dispersed globules appeared
as red, then cream is o/w type and vice versa.
Homogeneity Done by visual appearance and by touch.
Appearance The appearance of the cream was judged by it’s colour,
pearlescence, roughness and graded.
After feel Emolliency, slipperiness and amount of residue left after the
application of fixed amount of cream was checked. 12
13. Type of smear After application of cream, the type of film or smear
formed on the skin were checked
Removal The ease of the cream applied was examines by washing
the applied part with tap water.
Acid value - Cream dissolved in mixture of equal volume of alcohol
and ether.
- Undergo reflux condensation.
- Add phenolphthalein and titrate against NaOH until
pale pink colour appears.
- Acid value = 5.61n/w
Saponification value - Sample refluxed with alcoholic KOH
- Add phenolphthalein and titrated against 0.5N HCl
- Saponification value = 28.05 ×

Irritancy test - Cream was applied to the marked area of hand surface
and time was noted.
- Irritancy, erythema, edema was checked if any for
