—Orchestral and Choral Ensembles
Adams Twelve is one of Colorado’s largest school districts serving the surrounding cities of
Broomfield, Federal Heights, Northglenn, Thornton, and Westminster. At the time,
Shadow Ridge Middle School supported an orchestral program of four ensembles with
approximately 140 students, and a choral program of eight ensembles with approximately
240 students. The school was a model for implementing required music ensemble class for
each incoming 6th
grade student.

The Grammy Award-winning Phoenix Chorale, in residence at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in
downtown Phoenix, is regarded as one of the finest professional choral ensembles in America. The
28-voice chorus is dedicated to the creation and performance of new music, which is intermingled
with more traditional concert literature. The ensemble aims to be the preeminent model for
American choral music by redefining standards of excellence and its mission is to enrich life through
excellence and distinction in choral artistry.

The Arizona Bach Festival has grown out of the seven-year series of Bach Cantata Concerts
presented under the name American Bach. Now launched as Arizona Bach, the first Festival in 2010
was a resounding success, and has positioned the Festival to be a driving force in the musical
offerings of the Valley. The mission of the Festival is to: Inspire, educate, preserve, and elevate the
appreciation of Bach as a transcendent force, through the highest caliber of performances.

Jamie Bernstein is a narrator, writer and broadcaster who transformed a lifetime of loving music into
a career of sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with others. Jamie's symphony pops concert,
"Bernstein on Broadway," produced with conductor Michael Barrett, has enjoyed success with the
Vancouver Symphony, the Minnesota Orchestra, the Phoenix Symphony, the San Antonio
Symphony and the Rochester Philharmonic among others. An evening of Leonard Bernstein’s
music for Broadway, the “Bernstein on Broadway” program features Jamie’s concert narration
performed live with orchestra and vocalists.

The University of Wyoming Symphony Orchestra, Laramie, Wyoming 1998-2001

The University of Wyoming Symphony Orchestra is a 90-member ensemble playing the finest in
orchestral repertoire. With soloists ranging from internationally known guest artists to faculty
performers to student competition winners, and with tours throughout the Rocky Mountain region,
the UWSO performs many exciting concerts each year.

Conducting Experience:
The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, Tempe, Arizona 2007-present
Director of Music
The Church of the Epiphany is a Parish located in the Diocese of Arizona. The parish is in
communion with “The Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America,” otherwise
known as The Episcopal Church (TEC).
-Duties include preparing choir and hand bell ensembles for weekly Sunday morning
services as well as various liturgical holidays throughout the calendar year. Other duties
include preparing chant soloists, small ensembles, children’s chorus, and occasional
responsibilities as acting organist/canon musician.
-The number of singers has more than doubled from 2006-2013, from 12 singers to over 30.

-Women’s Chorus, Conductor 2008-2009
The ASU Women's Chorus celebrates the power of the woman's voice, performing the extensive
repertory for treble voices from ancient to modern music. The choir sings both a cappella and with
piano or other instrumental accompaniment.
-Duties included conducting and preparing a 60-voice choir in a variety of literature
throughout the academic year. The final project for the ensemble was conducting and
preparing Verdi’s Requiem.
-Lyric Opera Chorus Master, Conductor 2007-2008

-Duties included preparing undergraduate and graduate vocal performance majors in chorus
roles of the production.

students from within the School of Music.

Chamber and Concert Choirs were auditioned 40-voice choral ensembles of graduate students from
within the School of Music.
-Duties included conducting sectional rehearsals, organizing music, maintaining attendance,
planning tours, and leading full ensemble rehearsals in the absence of the conductor.

-Choral Union, Assistant Conductor 2006-2008
Founded in the 1950s, the Arizona State University Choral Union is devoted to singing the
masterworks for large mixed chorus. Members are auditioned volunteer singers from the ASU
community, including students, faculty, staff and residents of the Phoenix metropolitan area. Many of
the members are professionally trained and most have had extensive choral experience.
-Duties included assisting choral faculty in rehearsing and preparing 120-voice ensemble for
performances throughout the academic year. Responsibilities included organizing music,
conducting sectional rehearsals, and maintaining attendance.

The DMA in Choral Conducting degree is designed with the belief that one is first and foremost a
conductor, with a specialty in choral music and additional knowledge of orchestral, theatrical, and
wind band music. Graduate students pursuing this degree take several common courses regardless of
emphasis and also have opportunities to learn about the repertory and conducting issues for each
medium.
-This conducting experience was required as part of the DMA in Choral Conducting degree.
