Bilateral Relations:
• The relations between Pakistan and Turkey refers to as the
bilateral relationship.
• Bilateral relationship consists of political, economic or
cultural relations between two independent states.
• Turkey relations with Pakistan have developed on the basis
of close friendship and brotherhood since the
establishment of Pakistan as an independent state on 14
August 1947.
6. Pakistan has an embassy in Ankara (“ Capital of Turkey ”) , a
Consulate General in Istanbul and a honorary consulate in
Izmir.
Turkey has an embassy in Islamabad (“ Capital of Pakistan ”) ,
a Consulate General in Karachi and a honorary consulate in
Lahore, Peshawar, Sialkot and Faisalabad.
Turkey supports Pakistan membership of the nuclear supplier.
Both the countries enjoy friendly relations with both usually
being termed as Kardeşler (“Brothers” in Turkish).

7. Recently :
Tayyip Erdoğan (“ President of the Republic of Turkey ”) said
Turkey and Pakistan are determined to enhance cooperation on a
bilateral level and on international platforms after meeting with
Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Ankara on
Wednesday ( June 1,2022).
Erdoğan said while addressing a joint news conference with Shahbaz
Sharif,
“ We have comprehensively discussed our bilateral relations, and
regional and global issues ”
Sharif said Pakistan and Turkey have stood by each other in times of
need and on issues of core interest.
Pakistan stands with Turkey in its fight against terrorism, said the
Pakistani prime minister, adding:
"Enemies of Turkey are enemies of Pakistan."

8. Diplomatic Relations:
A relationship between two countries in which they
send diplomats to work in each other’s countries.
Diplomatic relations between Turkey and Pakistan
were established in 1947,soon after Pakistan came
into being as the largest Muslim country on world
map.
Turkey was among a few countries that quickly
recognized Pakistan after its creation and supported
its successful bid to become a member of the United
Nations.

9. Pakistan and Turkey established diplomatic relations after the
independence of Pakistan 1947 and bilateral relations became
increasingly close owing to cultural, religious and geopolitical
links between the two countries.
Pakistan’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah expressed
admiration for Turkey’s founding leader Mustafa Kemal
Atatürk and also desire to develop Pakistan on the Turkish
model of modernism.

11. Military Relations:
On April 2, 1954, Pakistan and Turkey signed a treaty of friendship
and cooperation.
Both countries , valued as important states in their regions, joined
the Central Treaty Organization ( CENTO ) aimed to better military
relations and also counter speed of communism in the region.
Pakistan and Turkey maintained long-standing military ties with
Turkey also providing training to Pakistani air officers.

12. Turkey and Pakistan reaffirmed the resolve to further
strengthen defense cooperation after a two-day meeting
among the high-level military officials of the two countries.
The 15th round of Pakistan-Turkey High-Level Military
Dialogue Group (HLMDG) decided that Turkey and Pakistan
would work together to enhance defense cooperation,
focusing on security and counter-terrorism, a statement by
Pakistan’s Defense Ministry.

13. AsRecently:
Turkey-Pakistan joint military exercise begins in
Tarbela, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Special forces
from both countries are taking part in 3-week-long
exercise ATATURK-XI 2021.
“ Long live Pakistan-Turkey brotherhood! ”
“ The joint military exercise will further strengthen
the bond of two brotherly nations and will help in
adapting the emerging trends in military
modernization and cooperation.”
Ankara and Islamabad have increased defense and
military cooperation in recent years.

14. Economic Relations:
The framework aims to enhance bilateral economic cooperation
with particular focus on trade and investment. Turkey and Pakistan
agreed on a strategic economic framework.
Speaking at Turkey-Pakistan Business Forum held in Pakistan
capital Islamabad. Pekcan( Turkish Trade Minister ) said high level
council with the attendance of two countries' leaders addressed
trade and economic cooperation.

15. Turkey and Pakistan are founding members of Economic
Cooperation Organization and part of the Developing 8 countries
D-8 organization.
Both nations have worked to negotiate a preferential trading
agreement, aiming to considerably increase trade and investments,
especially in transport, telecommunication, ( mainly tourism ) and
other industries.
The countries are negotiating the Turkey-Pakistan Free trade
agreement.

16. Pakistan and Turkey relations in
New times
Relations of the two countries have been strong with the
Prime Minister Imran khan visiting Turkey followed by
Tayyip Erdogan in February 2020.
Turkish television shows have huge popularity in
Pakistan, the most famous show
“ Ertugrul Ghazi ”
Dubbed by Pakistan Television Corporation in Urdu
language, which shows the interest of Pakistanis toward
Turkish culture.
