The document discusses plans for various elements of a music magazine, including the front cover, contents page, double page spread, and color scheme. The front cover will feature a close-up female artist as the main feature. The contents page will have a main image framed by text, and include features, reviews, and an editor's note. The double page spread layout places the main image across both pages with text on one side. Color schemes are considered that comply with conventions while also possibly challenging some expectations.
2. THE FRONT COVER
• I plan on using an intimate close-up image of a female artist on the front cover of my
magazine, this won’t particularly challenge any conventions but I will make sure not
to present this female artist in the same way in which females are represented within
music magazines. This image is likely to be taking in a location and have been
manipulated.
• The artist on the front cover will also be the feature for my magazine, and intend on
having a strapline that will act as an anchor to this image and advertise the feature.
Other cover lines will include the latest artists, album reviews, smaller interview
ect…
• Below I have provided some examples of front covers that I will draw inspiration
from:
3. CONTENTS
• I aim on keeping my contents page very clear and easy to read. To do this I’ll
have one main image that’s framed by the surrounding text; This complies with
the codes and conventions of most music magazines.
• The features that I might include will be new upcoming musicians, already
established musicians that appeal to my audience and album reviews.
• I will also include an editors note in my contents page, as I think that this
enables the readers to build an intimate relationship with the magazine.
• Special offers and extra information that my audience may find appealing will
also be including in the contents page.
• Below I have provided examples of contents pages that I will draw inspiration
from:
4. DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD
• I intend of structuring the double page spread around the main image that will take up
both sides of the page. This image will be a mid shot taken in a location, the
model/musician will be placed on one side of the image and the other will be filled by
the scenery of the location.
• The text will be placed on top of the image, on the side where the image is dominated
by the scenery of the location- this will be done so that it doesn’t cover the
model/musician.
• This layout challenges some conventions of double page spreads, as this layout isn’t
commonly used.
• Here two some examples that have inspired the structure of my double spread page:
5. COLOUR SCHEME
• Here are some examples of the colour schemes that I might
use
1. .
2. .
3. .
This colour scheme is most commonly
seen in magazines, therefore it doesn’t
challenge any codes or conventions.
Despite this, this colour scheme is the
one that I am most likely to use.
These two colour schemes aren’t so
common, and therefore challenge
some codes and conventions.
