1. Where might a trailer be seen? How
will different formats affect the
viewing of the trailer?
2. TV
Positive
• You are on your own or not with a
huge group of strangers, because of
this you can concentrate more on the
advert and the atmosphere it tries to
create for you
Negative
• Not many people have tv’s with
massive screens and surround sound
so the actually trailer quality may not
be as good
• The audience may have more
distractions around them at home
and so the trailer would need to fully
grab there attention the whole way
through
3. Cinema
Positive
• Big screens and surround sound. This
makes the audience feel like they are
part of the trailer.
• Because there are other people in the
audience, you may share the same
emotions as you e.g fear and then this
makes your fear worse. E. if someone
around you screamed you may
scream at their scream as a natural
reaction to feeling like you are in a
dangerous situation, this makes the
trailer more intense for the audience
Negative
• There will be other people in the
cinema, who may be making noise
and distract the audience from the
the trailer.
4. The Internet
Positive
• The internet has a very large audience
and so can reach more people and
there fore more people are likely to
come and watch the film
• You can put the trailer or parts of the
trailer on lots of different places on
the internet for example twitter,
Facebook and YouTube as well as
personalized adds on certain
websites, which could target your
specific target audience.
Negative
• You have to have an internet
connection or 3G to access the
internet and the practicality of
downloading the trailer may be a bit
slow
• Also because of the internet access
issue you are limited to where you
can watch the trailer
5. Mobile phones
Positive
• Mobile so can use it every where
Negative
• Very small screen so the trailer wont
effect the audience as much
emotionally and probably wont make
them want to see it as much
6. Radio
Positive
• Can reach a large and diverse
audience
• Can reach people who are necessarily
your first demographic to target which
would create a larger audience
Negative
• There wont be any visual aspects of
the film for the audience to see, this
will mean they will be less hooked to
the advert and so are less likely to
want to go and see the film
