This document provides information about Oracle Eloqua releases and updates. It notes that Oracle Eloqua and app versions rollout every 6 and 4 weeks respectively. Key information included are the deprecation of cloud connectors after July 2016, changes to Oracle Eloqua's data retention policy to store marketing activities for at least 25 months, and new features in versions 476/217 such as an updated Contact Washing Machine app and responsive Engage tool. Version 477/218 features an updated user interface and the introduction of Program Canvas under controlled availability.
6. DEPRECATION OF CLOUD
CONNECTORS/COMPONENTS
What was announced
‣ With the release of the AppCloud Developer Framework, Eloqua has
begun the decommissioning process for CC’s on Campaign
Canvas/LPs (built on legacy framework)
‣ URL: https://community.oracle.com/docs/DOC-918078
Benefits include
‣ Simplified installation
‣ Significantly improved performance
‣ Ability to test in Eloqua prior to releasing public
7. DEPRECATION OF CLOUD
CONNECTORS/COMPONENTS
After July 1, 2016
‣ Marketers will no longer be able to add new Cloud Connectors or
Components to Campaign Canvas or Landing Pages
‣ Current installments will remain available for an additional 6 months with
basic availability and security fixes
‣ Program Builder to remain unaffected at this time
After December 31, 2016
‣ Support services will be deleted and no longer available for use
‣ If campaigns or landing pages still contain instances of these services,
they will cease to function as intended until removed
‣ Campaign Canvas: instances will be transitioned to a holding step
‣ Landing Pages: will render without the externally sourced content
8. DEPRECATION OF CLOUD
CONNECTORS/COMPONENTS
Next steps
‣ Developers: immediately begin migrating their Cloud Connector and
Component Apps to the new AppCloud Developer Framework
‣ http://docs.oracle.com/cloud/latest/marketingcs_gs/OMCAB/index.html
#Developers/AppCloud/appcloud.htm
‣ Marketers: if you’re currently using “Send to Cloud Connector” steps on
the Campaign Canvas, or Cloud Components on LP’s, should begin
switching over to Apps built on the AppCloud Developer Framework
‣ All: if the App you’re using is not available for use as an Action,
Decision, Audience, or Content App, speak with internal dev team or 3rd
Party App provider about migrating
9. DEPRECATION OF CLOUD
CONNECTORS/COMPONENTS
R1 Cloud Connectors (advisory)
‣ Although Eloqua has begun deprecating their CCs, R1 has not
‣ Eloqua has deprecated some of their SOAP APIs, but the SOAP APIs
we are using will continue to be available for some time
‣ Program Builder to remain unaffected at this time, so CCs to continue to
function appropriately
‣ Currently aggressively working on versions of these apps that will work
with Campaign and Program Canvases
10. CHANGES TO ORACLE ELOQUA DATA RETENTION
What was announced
‣ Commencing with the arrival of Release 478 (March 2016), Oracle to introduce
a new retention policy on marketing activities
‣ Marketing Activity to be stored for at least 25 months past date for
Campaigns, Emails, Forms and Web
What does this mean?
‣ If you want visibility of any activity that is older than 25 months, you need to
export and store that data external to Eloqua before the 478 release, as older
data may be purged
Next steps
‣ No action needed, unless you wish to retain data older than 25 months
‣ If you want to retain the data (e.g. year-over-year reporting), export via BULK
API and host locally
