1.FLEXIBLE:Management principles are flexible as it can
easily be modified according to the present situation of
the organization.
2.GUIDELINES:Management principles do not give exact
solution to the problem,it only guides the managers to
solve the problem.
3.BEHAVIOUR CHANGER:Management principles help
to change the behaviour of manager and employess as
it gives knowledge to the employess and managers to
handle the problems.
4.CONTINGENT:Management principles are very
contingent as it depends upon the situation prevailing in
the organization means it needs to modify to apply.

1.PROVIDE KNOWLEDGE TO MANAGER:The principles of
management always provide knowledge to managers about
choosing right things for organisation.
2.SCIENTIFIC DECISIONS:Principles of management help the
managers to take right decisions scientifically without
personal bias of managers.
3.ADAPTABILITY:Management principles brings adapatability
in business because it helps the business to adapt according
to prevailing environment.
4.EFFEECTIIVE ADMINISTRATION:Principles of management
provide effective administration by removing personal
prejudices of top level personnel as the administration is
function of top level.

Henery fayol {1841-1925}got
degree in mining
engineering and joined
french mining company in
1860 as an engineer.He
rose to managing director
in 1888.When company
was on the verge of
bankruptcy.He accepted
the challenge and by using
rich and broad
administrative expirence
,he turned the fortune of
the company .For his

FAYOL
1.DIVISION OF WORK:According to this principle work
should be divided into small task and each task should
be given to one person so that more efficicency should
come in the organization and specialisation also should
come and wastage also shoul be reduce.
2.AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY:According to this
principle the authority and responsibility should be balanced.If
the manager is giving responsibility to the empoloyee so he
should also give authority to the employee to accomplish that
responsibility,this will lead to completion of job given by
manager.
3.DISCIPLINE:According to this principle,there should be
proper following of rules and regulations in the
orgnization.Employees and manager also should fulfil their
committement made to each other,so that there should be
proper discipline in the organization.
4. UNITY OF COMMAND:According to this principle, there
should be one boss means that subordinates should receive
orders from only one boss or superior.This will lead to proper
working in the organization and emplpoyees will also not
make escuses.There will be no ego clashes.If this principle is
not followed then there will no proper working in the
organization.
5.UNITY OF DIRECTION:According to this principle, the
efforts of all individuals working in the organization should
move in one or common direction to achieve organizational
goal.Each unit should have one plan and one head and this
will lead to achievement of goal and reduction of wasteful
activities.

6.SUBORDINATION OF INDIVIDUAL INTEERST TO
GENERAL INTERST:According to this principle,The
objective of the organization should be given priority over the
objective of the employees woirking in the organization.If
employees want to achieve their own objective so at first they
have to achieve the organizational objectives.
7.REMUNERATION OF EMPLOYEES:According to this
principle,remuneration should be given to employees which
give them reasonable standard of living.The remuneration
should be fair to both employees as well as organization.
8.CENTRALIZATION AND
DECENTRALIZATION:Centralization means power in the
hands of top level and Decentralization means evenly
distribution of power at different levels.So according to this
principle there shoul be both centralization and
decentralization in the organization as to bring systematic
working in organization.
9.SCALAR CHAIN:The formal lines of authority from highest
to lowest ranks in the organization is known as scalar.It is
compulsery to follow scalar chain as to bring systematic flow
of information in the organization but in case of emergency
gang plank can be made to pass information directly from
one person to another at same level.
10.ORDER:According to this principle,there should be
systematic arrangement of men and material in the
organization.So that workers didn’t want to search tools and
other equipments anywhere.Employees should also have
proper fixed place.
11.EQUITY:According to this principle,there should be no
discrimination of employees in the organization in case of
caste,gender,racial etc.All employees working in the
organization having same qualification and jobs shoul be
given equal importance.

TAYLOR
Fedrick winslow taylor{1856-1915}
was a person who within a years
rose from ranks of an apprentice
to chief engineer in midvale steel
company,US.Taylor conducted a
number of experiments and
came to conclusion that workers
were producing much less than
the targeted standard task.Also
both the parties management
and workers are hostile to each
other.He gave a number of
suggestions to solve the problem
and correctly propounded the
theory of scientific management
to emphasize the use of scientific

1.SCIENCE,NOT RULE OF THUMB:According to this
principle,organization should not use rule of thumb means
that managers should not use past expirence or hit and miss
method to fix standard time or task instead they should use
scientific approach to find out standard time or standard task.
2.HARMONY ,NOT DISCORD:According to this
principle,there should be harmony between workers and
management.Instead of discording each others
objectives,they should change their attitude and bring mental
revolution.Organization should also share gain with the
workers.The employees should try to attain organizational
goals as to fulfil their own goals.

principle,management and workers or employees should
work in cooperation with each other.They should not show
individualism.Workers should not go on strike instead they
should tie a black ribbon on arm to show their dissatisfaction
and they should keep work on.Managemnent should also
take suggestions of employees while taking any decisions.
4.DEVELOPMENT OF WORKERS TO HIS GREATER
EFFICENCY AND PROSPERITY:The workers should be
trained and developed to their greater efficency.The
knowledge of workers should be keep updating because if
workers will be efficent so automatically organization will
become efficent.

1.FUNCTIONAL FOREMANSHIP:In this technique,taylor
has seprated planning and production department.Talyor told
that planning department should do only planning and
production department should do only production.Taylor had
kept 4 experts in each production and planning department.
2.STANDARIZATION AND SIMPLIFICATION:According to
this technique,the organization should fix standards of
size,type,weigh etc. and organization should also have
quality standard.Simplification means organization should
reduce unnecessary varieties of product.This will make
organization efficent and effective.
3.METHOD STUDY:According to this technique,organization
should choose that method which is in favour of
organization.To choose method,organization should watch all
the methods and their merits and demerits.so this study helps
to find out best method to carry job.

4.MOTION STUDY:This study is conducted to eliminate
unproductive movements of the worker.To conduct motion
study at first all the movements of worker should be note down
and then productive and unproductive movements should be
seprated.After sepration,the unproductive movements should
be cut down and best tools or machines should be made by
which unproductive movements do not occur again.
5.TIME STUDY:This stiudy is conducted to find out the standard
time required to perform a job.To conduct time study,average
worker should be observed 100 times and then take out the
average time taken by worker,that average time should be
fixed as standard time.By keeping in mind the standard
time,the standard task can also be setup and manager can
6.FATIGUE STUDY:As we know that worker do work for
number of hours and he get tired also.So worker also need rest
to regain his energy.Therefore,This technique is used to find
out duration of rest interval,frequency of rest interval,number of
rest intervals.To conduct fatigue study average worker should
be observed while working and manager should not down that
when worker feels tired so this will help to fix frequency of rest
intervals and then worker should be observed that after rest
how much time worker take to regain his energy,by this
duration of rest intervals can be fixed.
7.DIFFERENTIAL PIECE WAGE SYSTEM:According to this
technique, there should be different wage rates for workers
means that efficent workers who make more units than units
actually they have to make should get high wage rate and
inefficent workers who make less units than units actually they
have to make should get less wage rates.By this efficent
workers will get motivate to continue their work like that only
and inefficent workers will also get motivate to make more units
as to get high wage.This system had linked wages and
productivity by insisting different wage rate.
8.MENTAL REVOLUTION:This technique insists that both groups
management and workers should change their attitude towards

aplication of general principles in all
situations and taylor had focussed on shop
floor and we also know that both taylor

  • 9. 2.AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY:According to this principle the authority and responsibility should be balanced.If the manager is giving responsibility to the empoloyee so he should also give authority to the employee to accomplish that responsibility,this will lead to completion of job given by manager. 3.DISCIPLINE:According to this principle,there should be proper following of rules and regulations in the orgnization.Employees and manager also should fulfil their committement made to each other,so that there should be proper discipline in the organization.

  • 12. 8.CENTRALIZATION AND DECENTRALIZATION:Centralization means power in the hands of top level and Decentralization means evenly distribution of power at different levels.So according to this principle there shoul be both centralization and decentralization in the organization as to bring systematic working in organization. 9.SCALAR CHAIN:The formal lines of authority from highest to lowest ranks in the organization is known as scalar.It is compulsery to follow scalar chain as to bring systematic flow of information in the organization but in case of emergency gang plank can be made to pass information directly from one person to another at same level.

ABOUT FEDRICK WINSLOW TAYLOR Fedrick winslow taylor{1856-1915} was a person who within a years rose from ranks of an apprentice to chief engineer in midvale steel company,US.Taylor conducted a number of experiments and came to conclusion that workers were producing much less than the targeted standard task.Also both the parties management and workers are hostile to each other.He gave a number of suggestions to solve the problem and correctly propounded the theory of scientific management to emphasize the use of scientific

PRINCIPLES OF SCIENTIFIC MANAGENT 1.SCIENCE,NOT RULE OF THUMB:According to this principle,organization should not use rule of thumb means that managers should not use past expirence or hit and miss method to fix standard time or task instead they should use scientific approach to find out standard time or standard task. 2.HARMONY ,NOT DISCORD:According to this principle,there should be harmony between workers and management.Instead of discording each others objectives,they should change their attitude and bring mental revolution.Organization should also share gain with the workers.The employees should try to attain organizational goals as to fulfil their own goals.   • 17. 3.COOPERATION,NOT INDIVIDUALISM:According to this principle,management and workers or employees should work in cooperation with each other.They should not show individualism.Workers should not go on strike instead they should tie a black ribbon on arm to show their dissatisfaction and they should keep work on.Managemnent should also take suggestions of employees while taking any decisions. 4.DEVELOPMENT OF WORKERS TO HIS GREATER EFFICENCY AND PROSPERITY:The workers should be trained and developed to their greater efficency.The knowledge of workers should be keep updating because if workers will be efficent so automatically organization will become efficent.

SCIENTIFIC MANAGEMENT 1.FUNCTIONAL FOREMANSHIP:In this technique,taylor has seprated planning and production department.Talyor told that planning department should do only planning and production department should do only production.Taylor had kept 4 experts in each production and planning department.
  • 19. 2.STANDARIZATION AND SIMPLIFICATION:According to this technique,the organization should fix standards of size,type,weigh etc. and organization should also have quality standard.Simplification means organization should reduce unnecessary varieties of product.This will make organization efficent and effective. 3.METHOD STUDY:According to this technique,organization should choose that method which is in favour of organization.To choose method,organization should watch all the methods and their merits and demerits.so this study helps to find out best method to carry job.   • 20. 4.MOTION STUDY:This study is conducted to eliminate unproductive movements of the worker.To conduct motion study at first all the movements of worker should be note down and then productive and unproductive movements should be seprated.After sepration,the unproductive movements should be cut down and best tools or machines should be made by which unproductive movements do not occur again. 5.TIME STUDY:This stiudy is conducted to find out the standard time required to perform a job.To conduct time study,average worker should be observed 100 times and then take out the average time taken by worker,that average time should be fixed as standard time.By keeping in mind the standard time,the standard task can also be setup and manager can
  • 21. 6.FATIGUE STUDY:As we know that worker do work for number of hours and he get tired also.So worker also need rest to regain his energy.Therefore,This technique is used to find out duration of rest interval,frequency of rest interval,number of rest intervals.To conduct fatigue study average worker should be observed while working and manager should not down that when worker feels tired so this will help to fix frequency of rest intervals and then worker should be observed that after rest how much time worker take to regain his energy,by this duration of rest intervals can be fixed.
  • 22. 7.DIFFERENTIAL PIECE WAGE SYSTEM:According to this technique, there should be different wage rates for workers means that efficent workers who make more units than units actually they have to make should get high wage rate and inefficent workers who make less units than units actually they have to make should get less wage rates.By this efficent workers will get motivate to continue their work like that only and inefficent workers will also get motivate to make more units as to get high wage.This system had linked wages and productivity by insisting different wage rate. 8.MENTAL REVOLUTION:This technique insists that both groups management and workers should change their attitude towards
