3. Style sheet- Colours
I have chosen a limited selection of colours to be used
within my product for a specific purpose, so that my
design was unique and a distinctive brand.
I have wanted to go 'retro' with these colours and have a
1980's design, which would appeal to my target
audience.
My product launch is based on this 'retro' feel for being
fresh to the market, and I am hoping that this will
increase sales in an ever competitive market.
‘Medium Candy Apple Red’:
This colour will be used for the
front cover of my ‘Film
Magazine’.
The red colour will stand out
for my logo and the title of my
product.
‘Vivid Sky Blue’:
I will be using this colour for
the background of my double
page spread for my product.
‘ Dark Pastel Green’:
I will be using this colour for
the text of my ‘Film magazine’.
(Header/subheading/
description).

1) ‘Bold Text’:
I will be using the bold text on
the front cover for the
header of my product.
2) ‘Bubble Text’:
The bubble writing will be used
for the subheading and the
double page spread for my film
magazine.

Throughout my product I used

for continuity and style.
This format fits my 'retro' feel
for my magazine, therefore
making it unique and fresh to
the market.

Through the design and
planning stages plus the
feedback from 'Survey
Monkey', I have taken all
this information and used it
in the design of my front
cover for my magazine.
The Masthead is clear and
bold, and unlike competitor
publications the cover
image does not obscure it.
The Cover page has taglines
and coverlines as to inform
the reader what the
magazine will include.

7. Reasons for Layout 1 Design
I used Photoshop as it is an excellent software tool whereby, I can be
creative in designing my product.
I chose the colour scheme, design and font as the theme for my genre, is
to be a 1980's retro theme, whereby the colour finish is a matt
colour. This is the complete opposite to the existing designs already in
the market from other magazine such as 'Empire and 'Film'.
Photoshop enabled me to easily create this by using the extensive editing
tools that this software contains. I was able to import images, chose
different fonts and merge this into a collective image whereby I could
choose a variety of palettes by using the colour bucket function.
All this gave me the desired result that I wanted in a short time but
enabled it to be visually appealing and unique to the existing market.

To keep with my 'retro' design I have used the
red and blue colours in my design. The text will
be bright and bold and therefore distinctive to
maintain the interest of the reader.

9. Reasons for Layout 2 Design
I intentionally chose this format for my design for my double page
spread, so that there would be brand recognition for my product.
I have ensured that the colours are primary and match the desired
feel for my product being a 1980's retro theme.
With me using the Photoshop software this was very easy to
achieve, by importing an image and then creating the desired
background using the palette of colours within the colour bucket
function. In addition to this, I was able to provide different
colours and fonts for the text within the article.
When all this is put together, the end result is visually
outstanding, which my target audience will appreciate.

crop and straighten images, alter colours in
the image or photograph, and combine

dynamic slides which can be incorporated into
my product by animations, images and much
more.

12. Contingency Planning

I will look at my 'Planning and Research'
documents to ensure that it is modern, unique
and appealing. If this is not done properly then
my magazine will have failing sales.
POTENTIAL ISSUES WITH THE QUALITY OF
IMAGES ON THE FRONT COVER AND WITHIN
THE MAGAZINE.
I will ensure that all images are high resolution
quality. The market demands that the images and
clear, dramatic and exciting to attract the interest
of the reader.
MY MAGAZINE MAY CONTAIN ARTICLES AND
IMAGES THAT IS NOT FOR MY AUDIENCE
RANGE.
This will not be an issue, as I will ensure that all
content contained in my magazine is suitable for
an audience of 12+.
THE COLOURS AND LOGO ON THE FRONT
COVER WILL CLASH.
I will ensure that this does not happen, by
experimenting with different colours and fonts before
final production.
THERE MIGHT BE SPELLING AND GRAMMAR
MISTAKES WITHIN MY MAGAZINE.
The whole magazine will be proofread for errors to
ensure that it is perfect before publication. This will
ensure success of my product as the marketplace
demands perfection.
MY PRODUCT MIGHT LOOK MESSY AND
UNAPPEALLING.
By doing my market research on 'Survey Monkey' and
reviewing my planning and research, these will
ensure that my product is what the readers and
marketplace wants now.

13. Health and Safety

there any signs of damage, I will report
this, so that the equipment can be

• WRIST PAIN FROM COMPUTER USE
(This physical problem will affect me
producing my product , and thus cause
delays)
• Arranging the monitor, mouse and
keyboard for my height and body size.
• Sitting comfortably at the desk and
not hunching or leaning forward.
• Positioning my forearms and wrists so
they are nearly straight (not tilted up or
down) as I type.

the use of Photoshop, I used this software to
experiment with different colours and fonts for
