Caller#4: Good afternoon everybody. Cliffy C. Clavin here calling in from Boston. We‘ve been talking about your new program here at the bar and did you know that it is a little known fact that solar panels actually take more energy to fabricate than they will ever produce while they are on your roof? Besides, how much sun could you possibly have up there in the frozen north?Sullivan: Cliff, I am glad you raised this commonly repeated myth. The myth busters at IEEE published a paper in 2008 that showed, on average, the energy embedded in a solar panel was about 500 kWh, which would be replaced after only 2 years of operation in Alberta. As for your concern over the Northern climate, more than half of the world’s solar photovoltaics are in Germany and Alberta consistently would outperform them, all other things being equal.Falconer: It sounds like you’ve been tipping back too many pops there, Cliffie. Do we have time for one more caller? Let’s see who is on the line, go ahead caller #5…<<*** Next Slide ***>>
