2. Author Biography
My author’s name is Suzzane Collins. She was born August
10, 1962. Her family has many people who have served in the army.
She currently is 47 years old, lives in Connecticut, is married, and has
two children. At first, she wrote children’s television shows. The
Hunger Games trilogy has changed her life and became very popular
the year it came out. Another series she has written are The Underland
Chronicles. She is well known for being a creative, descriptive, and
innovative writer.

3. Summary
The Hunger Games is about a young teen, Katniss Everdeen,
whose life is changed in such short time. Katniss has helped her
family survive thought starvation with her bestfriend, Gale, who is a
lot of help to her. The country she lives in forces two people from
each of the twelve districts to go into a battlefield and fight to the
death. Unfortunately, her younger sister, Primrose, was chosen
which lead to Katniss volunteering to take her place. The other
person who is chosen to go with her is Peeta Mellark, a boy who
does not have any experience in battle but is very strong. The games
begin and are very cruel. Many have made allies and enemies. Who
will win you ask? Read the book and find out.

Main Characters
• Katniss Everdeen- a brave, fearless, tough, independent, and caring young
teen. She is a great hunter and is courageous in time of need.
• Peeta Mellark- a stong,fearless boy who loves Katniss but tries not to show
it.
• Rue- a young, independent, and stealthy girl who form an alliance with
Katniss
Supporting Characters
• Haymitch Abernathy- an alcoholic but serious in time of need. He is Katniss
and Peeta’s advisor.
• Cinna – He is Katniss’s dresser who grows to be a good friend with Katniss.
He gives Katniss very good advise along the way.

5. Plot
• INTRODUCTION
- Meet Katniss and Prim
- Setting Panem
• Rising Action
-Katniss and Prim go to the Reapings and Prim gets chosen as tribute to fight to the death.
-Katniss volunteers for Prim
-Peeta Mellark is chosen as the other tribute
-Katniss and Peeta train with Haymitch, their advisor.
-Katniss gets her score and it is an eleven
-The Games begin and Katniss grabs a backpack with a sleeping bag and an empty water
bottle
-Katniss sleeps in a tree for a few nights
-Katniss sees that Peeta has made an alliance with other tributes.
-Katniss cuts a nest a hive off a tree and they sting Peeta and his allies.
-Katniss forms an alliance with Rue, another tribute
-Katniss and her become friends.
-Katniss sabotages Peeta and his alliies fort.

6. Plot Continued
- Katniss kills some of the people against her
-Peeta’s allies betrayed him and left him injured
Climax
-The capitol tells that people in the same district were able to team up
• Falling Action
-Katniss finds Peeta and they team up
-Katniss tends to Peeta’s wounds
-They together kill other tributes
-They camp in a cave to heal
-They build a friendship surviving together.
-They kill the last tribute
• Conclusion
-They get the news that only now one tribute could survive and they decide to kill
themselves but the announcer takes back what he said.
-They say their goodbyes to the people that helped them.

I gave the Hunger Games a rating of
4 out of 5 stars
I very much enjoyed the book becuause it
was so full of action. It always made you wonder
what would happen next and just draw you in.
Sometimes the book could be slow but the action
packed parts made up for it. I recommend this
book to people that like action and suspense
filled books
