2. Mental Discipline
◦ Having the Mental Discipline to keep a clear
and quiet mental state-even when things are not
going well, is a hallmark of a golfer who
controls his inner game and scoring. Thus an
excellent player.
Having a strong self image and believing in
yourself will elevate your game. Train yourself
to love your game and even the mis-hits as
there are some many more great ball strikes to
come……look for them.
3. GIVE EVERY SHOT
RELAXED
CONCENTRATION
◦ On a scale of 1 to 10 the relaxed concentration of
the subconscious golf game translates to a shot level
of 3 to 4
◦ For tournament play. This is a low level of
importance.
To prepare for a shot in play a simple 3 step
process is followed the same every time.
First look at the lie of the ball location and the cup
location.
Second Look at the hole location distance.
Third select a club, align stance, and relax swing &
hit.
This is an established routine every hole with no
extra thought necessary.
SHOT ROUTINE WHEN PLAYING
4. MIND
ORIENTATION
Once you locate your ball and arrive at its location you will follow
your SHOT ROUTINE.
Orientation to the shot, final distance of the cup, and location will
receive focus and is very important to your stroke. It includes lie
determination, view of the hole, and club selection.
Do you have a cadence of calm purpose established in the
subconscious mind. It comes out without paying attention to it.
The rhythm is visible to onlookers and is natural to your style.
After the ball is struck you do not judge if it is a good or bad
shot. It simply is done and the next shot is part of golf neither
good nor bad it just is yours to play.
5. ACCEPTANCE
Regardless of how you get there acceptance completes your routine, shot and
hole.
YOUR ATTITUDE HAS TO BE, NO MATTER WHERE MY BALL
ENDS UP I WILL ACCEPT IT, GO GET IT, AND SCORE WITH IT.
A new game begins after you complete that hole.
Love being on the course, enjoy that part of your world, remember playing
golf is always the same process. Success comes from making the routine work
for you, acceptance, and low level of importance with every shot.
If you get upset, or are afraid or anxious about a shot, that tells you practice is
still needed after the game is over.
Take your best shot even when difficult or unsure, and accept the outcome
will improve another time. Then concentrate on the positive put the negative
out of your mind before you make another hit.
Great players are the ones who take errors, mishits, bad bounces and make
them work in positive ways regardless of the outcome. Graeme McDowell
summed it up on a poor hit…”SO WHAT?” Next time it will be different.
6. PUTTING
A player can make any style of putter, grip, hit, and stroke work if she
simply believes in their own putting ability.
The mental side has far less latitude. The player must see a line or avenue
to the cup from their ball location, factor in break, distance, speed and
aim and hit it into the hole.
We practice putting from 3 feet, 6 feet, 9 feet and anything else 12 feet or
farther is a lag put. Day 1 of putting practice is 3 feet and 6 feet only. Day
2 is 9 feet and 12 ft lag putts only. Never mixed with irons or drivers.
Lag puts are not meant to score just find the way close to the cup.
Visualization becomes critical here. It is part of our Neuro-Science
equipment and practice learned putting.
Once this becomes second nature with the Putt-Rite target putting
becomes more routine. Like irons play hit the putt and accept it, give it
low importance and know it will become easier…SO WHAT?
7. PUTTING ESSENTIALS
ABSOLUTELY SEE
THE BALL GOING
INTO THE HOLE
1
ABSOLUTELY MAKE
A SOLID
DETERMINED
STROKE TO MAKE
THE BALL SINK
2
ABSOLUTELY
PLAYER MUST HAVE
A SOUND
CONSISTENT
PUTTING ROUTINE
3
8. PUTTING STEPS
Putting routine includes initial alignment critical to success
1) ONE LAST LOOK AT THE HOLE
2) EYES BACK TO THE BALL
3) PUTTER GOES BACK
4) IMPACT
9. PUTTING THOUGHTS
The putt does not have to go into the
hole to make it successful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you make the putt in your mind,
honor your routine then………
The outcome is successful regardless of
where the ball ends up.
10. KEY PARTS OF YOUR GOLF GAME
A great irons game
is more powerful
than anything . It
makes others fear
you.
01
A great putting
game wins most
tournaments, never
underestimate its
power.
02
Driving is the
lowest level of
importance. Ask
Harry Vardon….

11. FINAL THOUGHTS
◦ Anyone from beginner to tour champions can solve the mystery of
golf. It is rather simple. If you are patient and can set aside poor
hits, a bad day on the course.
◦ Be patient and know your practice will take you to the top of the
golf world. (According to Dr. Bob Rotella, Arnold Palmer
paraphrase).
◦ A student asked Dr. Bob Rotella how long will it take me to become
a solid golfer. Dr. Bob said,…”I don’t know.”
◦ Why because all golfers are different they progress at different rates,
levels, and time frames.
◦ Weightlifters in the gym never ask their sports trainer how long
before they grow big muscles. That is unknown, yet just know
continued weightlifting practice means one day you will be massive!
Golf is the same…….
