Complete Step by Step guide to Odoo Manufacturing
Odoo’s Manufacturing module manages all manufacturing related activities. Manufacturing
in Odoo is more helpful for the production of a manufactured product or the product is built
by some other products with different quantities. Odoo an Open source ERP solution helps
you to implement and customize Manufacturing ERP software for your business.
Odoo’s Manufacturing module manages production by work order or either by manufacturing
order. Master Production Schedule (MPS) is available which enables to schedule the
production of stock. Odoo Manufacturing enables to set of product variants and By-products
in the bills of material. It manages quality control points, checks, measures.
Configuration
First of all, you can install the Manufacturing Module in your database.

Alternative WorkCentre, Code, Working Hours, Company. Now you can fill the following
fields under the General Information Tab. You can add performance indices like time
efficiency factor, capacity, OEE target, cost per hour, etc. from General Information Tab.
8. Configuration of Routing
In the manufacturing module, routings can be used to specify the manufacturing operations to
be done in work centres to develop a certain product. Every product has its own routes. It is
not a single step process the manufacturing process may consist of many work centres and
any work centres have its own processes and process time. At that time, you can set the route
of the specific manufacturing process.
Routing completely depends on the manufacturing company process. A few companies have
the same type of manufacturing process. Then you can create only one type of routing. A few
companies have a distinct manufacturing process Then you can create multiple routing.
Go to Manufacturing -> Masterdata -> Routing
9. Now you can click on the routings button to create new routing in your database.
At that time, you can fill the following field like name of the routing, company name
production location and add work operation there. Whenever you want to add work operation
then click on add a line button.
10. Now you can fill the following fields like operation name, work centre, and duration
computation. There are two options available in duration computation: compute based on
real-time and set duration manually and also an option for setting default duration. Then fill
the next operation field and click on the Save button.
11. Configuration of Bill of Material (BoM)
Bills of Materials (BOM) are documents that describe the list of raw materials used to make a
finished product. A Bill of Material is sometimes also referred to as a product structure,
assembly component list or production recipe.
Once you have created a product and at least one component select them from the relevant
dropdown menus to add them to your bill of materials (BoM).
Go to Manufacturing > MasterData > Bill of Materials > Create
12. Now we are creating the new Bills of Material (BoM). The product name and its quantity are
essential fields. Add product quantity and each raw material and it’s in the ‘Components’ tab
by clicking ‘Add an Item’. Later you added all the components, click on the Save button.
Now you can set the name of the Routing properly. Routings define the manufacturing
operations to be done in work centres to produce a certain product. Routing is usually
attached to bills of materials, which will define the assembly of products required for
manufacturing or to produce finished products
13. Now you can create a new manufacturing order for the products. Enter the information on the
following required fields like product name, quality to produce, BoM, routing, Deadline, Plan
from, Responsible, Source, Company, etc. At that time, you can be configured three types of
work centre operations.
Go to Manufacturing -> Operations -> Manufacturing orders.
14. After clicking on the Plan button, the stage of the Manufacturing Order is to be changed.
Now Manufacturing Order is going to the Planned stage. Now clicking on the Work Order
button to view the various type of orders.
15. Now Lets’ see the various work orders view like Packing, Testing, Long time assembly.
Now your first work order will be in a ready state and others work order in a pending state
and waiting for another Work Order. At the same time, the first order is completed, now the
second work order and third work order stage will automatically get changed to Ready state
and process.
16. To Create Scrap
Scrap is the discarded material from a manufacturing job and products are unusable or at the
same time, it reaches its expiry date. In Odoo you’ll manage a defected or scrap product from
any point of business like whereas receiving a decent, or throughout the internal transfer, etc.
Scrap management and Unbuild order facilities are two simple yet highly useful features of
Odoo manufacturing ERP.
Scrap management in Odoo: One of the most useful features of Odoo is that you can create
Scrap at any stage of the production line. Now Click on the scrap button to create instant
scrap entry in inventory. You can create a fresh scrap entry. At that time, you can fill the
17. following details and click on the Done button it will be inserted into inventory
automatically.
To configure unbuild a product
Another useful feature in Manufacturing is Unbuild. You can unbuild the products into its bill
of materials. It is the reverse process of production.
Go to Manufacturing > Operations > Unbuild Orders > and click on Create button.
While creating a new one, you can either select a Manufacturing Order. Now you can fill the
following fields: product, Bill of Material, Quantity, Manufacturing Order, Location,
Destination Location, etc.
18. Master Production Schedule
MPS or Master Production Schedule automates the scheduling process with the help of
existing Minimum Stock Rules and Make-to-Order. The Master Production Schedule is also
managed the Manufacturing Order to automate scheduling, along with existing Minimum
Stock Rules and Make-to-Order newly added MPS (Master Production Schedule) will trigger
manufacturing order (it could also be used for Purchase as well) based on customer demand.
The Master Production Schedule module is designed to help the manufacturer order.
In Odoo manufacturing process is managed in the Manufacturing module, so first of all, we
have to install that module in our DB, after installing another routing option (manufacture) is
added in the product form.
You can plan manufacturing or purchase orders based on forecasts with the time rage of
monthly, Weekly or Daily as we demand.
19. Looking at Demand Forecast one will come to know how much production is needed (Go to
Manufacturing and under Reporting, you will find MPS).
20. Under Master Production Scheduling one can schedule the production over the periods such
